What would you ise for a xxxl outside dog house

Also an old camper shell for a truck bed could work because it's sure big enough. You might find one on Craigslist for free. I have one in the field and I don't use it as a dog house but my dogs always lay under it for shade on hot days and they like to get on top of it to see around the...

Getting a guardian puppy - any chicken<-->dog communicables I need to worry about?

I'm no expert dog trainer but in my experience Keeping the pup in an outdoor kennel next to but not in the chicken coop gives them plenty of exposure to them while at the same time keeping the pup from physically touching the birds. Only allowing the pup to have close contact when you're in the...

Getting a guardian puppy - any chicken<-->dog communicables I need to worry about?

As long as she chilled out when she knew who she was dealing with then that's normal behavior. I read through this thread and I was wondering whose bright idea it was to keep an untrained puppy alone with chickens? You could wake up to find dead chickens everywhere if the puppy decided it was...

Getting a guardian puppy - any chicken<-->dog communicables I need to worry about?

That's what protective dogs do when they see something that does not look right in their eyes. She made a judgement call and decided your mom looked like a threat with all that kudzu. When your mom spoke up and let he know it was her how did your pup react? My spouse wears black coveralls and a...

Introducing chicks to chickens. I am just overreacting, right?

I have leghorn, jersey giants and silkies. I have a few each of white, brown and silver leghorns and to me each color has a separate characteristic. (My silkies are kept totally separate since their pretty much defenceless and would be predator candy so they don't get to free range.) My silver...

Introducing chicks to chickens. I am just overreacting, right?

I apparently raise jerk chickens because I've never been able to succeed at integrating new ones with the resident chickens. I free range and I only let them mingle when they're out and about or my old hens will torment the young pullets. I have two separate housing for them and if one of the...

    GAWD! THE RAIN!

Try covering the entire top and put a dog house or something they can hide in to get out of the rain.

    Gardener snakes and chickens

Yep a garter snake. Caught them with large eggs swallowed whole. Caught them in the act of trying to swallow a chick. The ones around SC lowcountry get 4-5 feet lond and certainly do go after chicks and eggs.

    Gardener snakes and chickens

I've had them eat eggs and baby chicks. I've also had them kill two larger 6 week chicks that were too big to swallow but left them dead with slobbered up heads.

Is this a new egg type or just random speckles?

I had a redsex link that would lay colored brown eggs with and without speckles and sometimes they would be lighter brow with tiny speckles and sometimes with larger ones. All from the same chicken.

    Is this a Silkie egg?

Silkies usually lay a small egg that is considerably smaller than the breeds you listed and colored more whiteish, cream like color. Well atleast mine were. I've had black star sex links that layed eggs with those speckles though.
