Thanks for your input and advice. 1 of the 3 doesn't have a beard or muffs. If I breed her, is it likely to have muff off spring? I read that the gene is incomplete dominant, which means if they dont have the trait physically, then their offspring wont. Is that true?
Nice serama in your avatar...
I'll post one when I get home later. It was interesting because in the bunch she was selling, there were some bearded and some not from the same batch.
I actually suspected that they weren't pure, but I just bought them for fun anyways because they were interesting lol. Not for breeding purposes by any means..cool little guys to let run around. Just wondering if it was actually a "thing".
Have any of you seen serama bantams w/beards & muffs? Does this mean they are not really seramas or is this fairly common? I just picked up 3 hens from this lady on craigslist for $10 ea so couldnt pass it up, even for pet quality, as I am just starting back up after not having birds for awhile...
Chasing them around lol. But then we got smart and would scout areas with chickens we wanted to catch, and look for the piles of pop below the trees and come back at night to climb up and get them while they are sleeping lol
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I started raising wild chickens I used to catch in middle school and then got more into egg layers, bantams, OEG as I got older. Now I am 25 and just getting back into it after about 5 years of not having any.
(2) How many...
