Dishes for grit and oyster shells

I use empty tuna cans, one in chicken house for oystershell, screwed onto wall 2x4 about 8 inches up from floor. Use 2 short wood screws, predill 2 holes in can, one above the other, about 1/2 inch apart. The 2 screws will keep the hens from turning the can and spilling. Do same thing for grit...

    Bad Hatchery Experience

I have no idea why this happened, but I find it very discouraging as the only way I can get the breed I want is to buy from a hatchery. Hope someone can answer your questions.

    Hello everyone

Thanks to all. It appears that I will have to get the speckled Sussex from TCS or a hatchery as I haven't been able to find a breeder within a reasonable distance. I don't show, but want healthy babes. That's all I want and certainly don't want 25 so it most likely will be tsc.

I lost 2 grown buff Brahma banties and 2 half grown chickens to black snakes. One of the full grown was broody, it was in the daytime, she was sitting there in her trance, found dead on floor with the neck and head wet / slick. I have killed every one I could, finally got some shotshell for the...

    Hello everyone

Thank you. Also wanted to thank everyones input on the heating pad brooder. I've been searching and reading the last few days. Glad there is NOT a politics sub-forum here. That forum kept my BP up so I quit going there, lol.

    Hello everyone

I have been raising chickens for about 22 years. Have 5 hens, 2 production reds (bullies) and 3 mixed breed banties. Oldest is probably around 10 years old, hasn't laid in years, but I will keep till she dies. I have a love hate relationship with them lol. Other hobby is sewing. I was a member...
