recently hatched chick not doing well

Unfortunately the little chick didn't survive the night. I had my suspicions that this would happen. After finding the droppings, I had two poor attempts at feeding, and at around 9pm last night, the chick stopped responding to touch and sound. Thank you to everyone that gave suggestions and...

recently hatched chick not doing well

Little update: I managed to get the chick to eat a little bit of a chick feed gruel today. In some good news, I found a little bit of poo on the towel. It seemed to be a mix between brown and white. I am attaching some photos of it.

recently hatched chick not doing well

Long post ahead. Sorry! My sweet girl Franny hatched 5 baby chicks some time yesterday (I didn't realize til I got home that evening) and immediately I noticed that one of them wasn't doing to well. When Franny got up to get food, the others chased her everywhere she went, but this little one...

    Rooster completely limp temporarily

Update: He appears to be completely fine this morning. I checked his pulse and it doesn't seem irregular or off in any way, and his breathing is normal.

    Rooster completely limp temporarily

This is possibly one of the strangest things that has happened to me. I was out feeding the chickens. Everything's fine, everyone's eating, etc. I grab one of the waterers to refill it, which took maybe 2 minutes max, and when I brought it back to them, my ayam cemani rooster was lying on the...

    Adult ducks eating pine shavings

I was changing the bedding in the duck house (I use pine shavings) and all of my ducks immediately started to eat it when they realized what I was doing. This isn't something I've noticed them do before and I'm wondering if I should be concerned. I tried looking it up, but all of the results...

    Sudden Duckling Death

I I examined the body before I buried it (just in case it was something contagious) and the only spot I saw was a small bald spot on its neck, but the neck itself didn't feel broken. But it's likely I could have missed something

    Sudden Duckling Death

I recently bought a few ducklings from Tractor Supply. They are around 4 weeks old. I checked on them about 2 hours prior and everyone appeared fine, so I was surprised to find one dead. The duckling was lying on the ground, and had blood coming out of one nostril and a few droplets around the...

    Hen acting strange/confused

Update 2: the second hen that became sick seems much better today. She's eating and drinking well and is very active. Her droppings even appeared to be semi normal (photo attached). The first one, though, has only gotten worse. She can't stand on her own anymore. If she tries she stumbles around...

    Hen acting strange/confused

Update: Since I'm not 100% sure what's going on, I'm taking preventative measures. The two hens have been isolated from the rest of the flock and are going to be watched/treated carefully. The entire flock has been wormed and corid has been added to their water, and I have disinfected the coop...

    Hen acting strange/confused

Both of their crops seem empty right now. The second hen dropped a very yellow runny poo right in front of me. It's been a few months since I wormed the flock, so I'm gonna go ahead and worm everyone. I'm also going exchange the water and put corid in it. I'm going to place them into a large dog...

    Hen acting strange/confused

I just got home from work so I haven't had the chance to feel for an egg yet, but I'm doubting that's what this is. When I went to check on her, I noticed another one of the hens hiding away from the rest with her tail downwards, also appearing weak (attached photo). I'm now afraid that this is...

    Hen acting strange/confused

I use the Durvet vitamins and electrolytes in their water. Is that enough or should I try some pedialyte? She is a little over a year old. I was missing an egg in the nesting boxes yesterday, so that could possibly be her. And her crop does feel a bit firm. Do you think she could be egg bound? I...

    Hen acting strange/confused

When I went out to feed my chickens I noticed one of them did not run up to get food. I found her standing alone in the yard as if she was confused or dazed. She was standing in one place, slightly poofed up, and her head was bobbing around back and forth and her eyes kept closing as if she was...

Chick found dead in nest box

It was most likely killed by another hen or maybe a rooster. I may be wrong, but it's a possibility. It's very common for some hens to kill chicks that don't belong to them. If possible, I'd recommend moving mom and her babies to an area the others can't have access to.

I need a slightly older goose

This is probably a long shot, but does anybody know where I can buy a slightly older goose? I have a goose who's a little older than 2 months and he desperately needs a friend or several friends. I think he's an Embden goose (he was a surprise gift) but I could be wrong. I'm trying to find one...

Unsure What Breed my Rooster is

That's what I was thinking. I'm struggling to figure out what the other part is though. I don't know what would make his feathers that thin

Unsure What Breed my Rooster is

I hope this is the right category to post this in. I'm curious what you guys may think this rooster is because, frankly, I have no idea. He was given to me as a gift a while ago when he was a baby chick. The people who gifted him to me said that they were told he was a pure bred Ayam Cemani...

Hen is thin with pale face

I have a Rhode Island Red hen who has become very thin over the past few days. Her comb has also become pale and dried out looking. Today I noticed that her legs and feed have become very yellow in color and the flock seems to be secluding her. She is eating and drinking fine and appears to be...
