Hi There! My husband Jacob and I are building your coop. We are confused about the doors, windows and Nestbox. What did you make the windows and nest boxes out of? How were they set in etc. I saw in a post you mounted the nest boxes with Carriage bolts, but where did you use the bolts to attach...

    Dud eggs

I have two eggs that are on day 7+ and not fertile at all. They have been incubating for 7 days. Do I toss them, or fridge them. Can you eat them? Bacteria and such.

    11 weeks, no eggs

They need light. 16 hours of light a day to lay eggs. When the seasons change and daylight decreases we tend to see a decrease in egg production. Provide them a simple light. No special light bulb required. #AGTeacher

    Hen with Swollen booty

Ok vent check done, nothing except poop. She chirped a bit but no major complaints during the process. I put more ointment on. It’s odd her vent is moving like it has a pulse.

    Hen with Swollen booty

Thanks for responding, she has never laid. I will definitely glove up later, not something I want her student to see. He has difficulties so he probably wouldn’t understand.

    Hen with Swollen booty

This is the newest hen. She’s a students bird. 1 year old, beautiful but doesn’t lay eggs so the breeder sent her my way. Student just needed a bird for showmanship. Cleaned her up today before sending her to my student and noticed she was swollen. I gently wiped the dried poop, soaking it off...

    Young Rooster Behavior

Omg! I tried it. He was grumbling and screeching at me, and trying to peck me. I said “that’s enough” in my stern teacher voice and he immediately went silent and stopped. When he did it again, I said it again and placed him on his perch. Since he wants to be held, I figured it would be a good...

    Young Rooster Behavior

Good Morning! It’s about 2:54AM here, I have insomnia so I figured I’d ask some questions. Those of you who’ve been following my crazy life, this is week 5 with my Cockerel Serama Moo Moo Cluck. He’s in the process of getting a Pullet friend, for now he’s part of the family/living room. He’s...

    Behold The Anxiety Box

As some of you know I joined recently. I have a 6 month Cockerel Serama Named Moo Moo Cluck. He has had such bad anxiety any time he is alone without myself or my fiancée. We created a tray he can perch on and play in, while we move him to wherever we are. Kitchen, bathroom, etc. we used a small...

We don’t use the fireplace, it’s fake anyways. I’m working on getting him a pullet friend. Until then he’s my side kick. Since I teach ag he goes to class with me. Follows me around the house. He chills at night once I put pandora on and cover his coop in blankets with an air gap in the back. He...

    New Here

He doesn’t have New Castle, as soon as the state lifts the regulations I can get him a friend. His coop is on my fire place, he has toys and has oddly enough befriended my cat. What worries me is anytime I leave the living room he cries and paces in his coop. I even took him on a parrot perch to...

Hey All. I just got a Bantam Serama Cockerel two weeks ago. We named him Moo Moo Cluck. He was hand raised by his breeders so he’s very sweet and attached. We love that we can hold him, however he takes it to an extreme. Any time he is back in his coop he paces and cried for about 15 minutes...
