This was the worst one we had and she is doing much better now. We are going to get some baby vitamins and start that and put iodine on the scabs. It is dry fowl pox.
Our flock has fowl pox's. We read on the internet that you can put some iodine mixed into there water. And give them baby vitamins. Just wanted to get some opinions on it. And some advice on how to help them with the fowl pox's.
She is doing a little better, she passed to rest of the egg late last night. She has been drinking on her own today when I wake her up. But she still isn't eating anything, but a piece of lettuce about the size of your pinky nail ever so often.
She just passed some more of the egg. She does have fowl pox too and one of her eyes is swollen almost shut so I don't think she has been eating or drinking enough.
Yes I soaked her as long as she would take it and I massage to her abdomen. And she has not peed or pooped since she had some of the egg come out. I have giving her water and rice cereal with tums mixed in. But I am having to give it to her in syringe with no needle.
Yes she has been pooping but not a lot, she is a year and 3 months old. I found it yesterday. She passed some of it this morning, but a piece of the membrane is sticking out. I am giving her a tums for calcium, I fixed her an egg with egg shells in it but she won't eat it.
The chicken that we had the vent prolapse she is doing great, we decided to name her Rotten because she definitely is. We have had her away in a cage from the other chickens from February 8 til today (39 days). We were going to try like "little play dates" let her out in the yard supervised and...
If any of y'all live in East Texas this is the vet we used. Hawkins pet & Exotic Animal Clinic the vets name is Dr. Jill Hobbs, it is in Hawkins Texas.
Thank you @Eggcessive and @Cragg Klefor for y'all help and advice with the vent prolapse. It really helped, but we could not get her to stop laying eggs and with that last egg she started hemorrhaging. The vet saved her life.
Well she layed an egg Tuesday and started bleeding so we took her to the vet, she did a hysterectomy on her that night we picked her up today. Still a little tired but should be back to normal in about a week, just no eggs from her.
Ok so I just gave her a bath and some of the dead skin come off but not all of it is there something I can put on it to make the dead skin come off faster or just keep giving her baths and soaking til it all comes off ??
Thank you so much. I have also read to keep her in dark room so the she will not want to lay an egg so much. Is that true or does that help? We have been giving her a bath daily and keeping preparation H on it. Is that good to keep putting on there or should we try something else ?
We haven't gave her a bath today or cleaned it up yet trying to let her rest. But we did clean it up last night before we went to bed. That is the best pic I could get.
Hi we found one of our girls with her backside not looking to good. We looked up what it could have been and it is vent prolapse. We have separated her from the rest of the flock, gave her a bath to get all the nasty stuff off of her. We have tried using preparation H to push the vent back in...
