what's the best humidity to use for call ducks? i am getting my first eggs on the 27th and i'm hella nervous about messing them up. i'm seeing a lot of mixed info on humidity but temp of 98.5 is pretty much acrs the board
rats are nasty and can eat them. mama will do her best to protect but you might want to set traps to get them out- somewhere the ducks won't get to/be hurt
thank you so much! i needed that. i have a dozen in the inc now that arrived from ny. i am praying i get some signs of life when i candle sunday. i might even wait until monday or tues to candle. i'm so afraid now to mess with them. it's not easy being a serama mama lol
It died!!!! I'm going to ugly cry. Some time between lockdown and today it died. Perfectly formed. I hate knowing I did everything right and I hatched zero eggs.
is there any way to hand turn when you work 12 hour shifts? i work 4 12s- 2 days and 2 nights then i'm off 4 days. is there any possible way to hand turn or is my default an auto turn bater?
So #1 died, suffocated. I think had I helped it would have made it. #2 needed a little help this morning. As soon as I took away some shell it pushed right out and it's doing great. #3 died in shell, didn't absorb all of its yolk. #4 is breathing but still in shell so
This is my first time solo. Last one was when I was 16 with my dad leading the wayw and I'm 41 now. I can't see the beak the pip is kinda low. On the one that pipped today I see the egg moving a little bit the zip hasn't started yet
y'all we got a pip!!! 1 pipped while i was sleeping today for night work. sooooooo eggcited!!! now i have to (not)patiently wait for to ck on them again - i work 12 hour shifts
i was thinking of doing a single slant roof too. rain run off to the back side (nghbrs fence line ha ha) i agree about ventilation- i planned to add some to the sides.
i think i'm thinking 6-8 total birds. but want room for just in case i can't say no to a fluff nugget
i have 4 serama eggs hatching in about 3 days or so. debating ordering micro eggs. the temptation is strong. also going to couple poultry events in the next 6 wks and there's a strong chance i will end up with more. they are like potato chips- can't have just one
i haven't had chickens since i was a kid. even then they were my grandmothers. i never went in the coop. i thought each hen wanted her "own nest"
