You're definitely not alone. My chicken math is more like algebra as I excited started my flock with five CCLB pullets from a reputable breeder out west. My husband bought me the supposedly impenetrable universal poultry cage from TSC. Oh, the night before my babies arrived, a friend called to...
I have also had a large rat snake caught in the act of eating one of my coveted CCLB'S. A 5+ week old pullet so this was no small feat. I also got sulfer, garlic and cedarwood. I was also looking for some lemongrass to plant around the coop.
I am all for live and let live but not in my space...
I just loved this post ❤️ We have a small farm and just got chickens. One night inside and out to the feed shed they went. I love my chicks as I do all my animals but they are a labor of love and sometimes bittersweet. Bless you for sharing your story.
Beginner here: I have 5 four week old Crested cream legbar pullets, a cuckoo maran pullet, a leghorn pullet and a copper maran cockeral?
My favorites are my CCLB's and my leghorn. Inquisitive, friendly and great foragers.
Feather Lover Farms did include an additional pullet to my order. I just assumed that was to protect against possible loss. BONUS! I know the post office was really excited to see me as my five birds sounded like a full chick choir!
I just received 5 CCLB'S a week and a half ago from California to Arkansas. Took two days and they were packed carefully in a small box with holes. There was a heat pack and two small trays (I assume they had contained food). Also a grassy bedding. All healthy and beautiful.
