    Wet/damp chicken

The last three days one of my chickens has been damp. I have checked the coop, there is no leak, no water getting in that I can see. I went out in the dark and moved her on the perch and to check for condensation. Nothing! I towel dried her last night and she is damp again today. We have been...

    Sleepy Chicken?!

Help! This is my first time having chickens and they are 4 months old. One of mine has been acting very sleepy today. She isn't eating much, drinking much and just seems tired. She is closing her left eye all the time. I picked her up and checked her out. No discharge from eyes or nose, no...

    Blood

I need to go take a picture but just now I noticed some red dried blood on the roosting board. I don't see any bloody poop, no one is limping and I don't see any injuries. Do I need to pick up each chicken and check out their butts? Mine are not super friendly so I don't want to stress them out...

    Which would you choose?

I can only have a certain number of chickens where I live, and no roosters. Just found out yesterday my hambright (cross between a seabright and a hamburg) is a rooster. The person I bought it from is willing to give me a pullet. I cannot decide if I stay with that breed or go with a better egg...

I had no idea that when a chick is dust bathing it looks like it is dying! I thought it was having a seizure or was injured! Anyone else surprised by something completely normal? lol

    Dirt Run?

New here, and a few questions... Our run is covered but the floor is just dirt. Do they still need grit or can they just scratch the dirt and eat little pebbles? Also, in the winter do I need to put anything down in the run(straw, leaves, etc?) to insulate and keep their feet warm?

    9 Chicks

I am allowed to have 5 chickens so we bought 9 in case some are boys (not allowed to have roosters in our city limits). What age should I post pictures for y'all to guess if they are girls or boys? 4 are 2 weeks and 5 are 1 week old. They are various breeds (americana, caramel queen, production...

    A Few Questions

We have 9 chicks. 5 are 2 weeks old and 4 are 1 week old. We are new and wanting to know how long they need to stay in the brooder box with the heat lamp? At what age can we put them in the coop with the heat lamp? I was thinking about locking them in the sleeping area as it is more protected...
