    Lash egg or something else?

I posted yesterday about my black sexlink, Lady. She had a nasty case of watery stool for a few days. After Epsom salt soaks, Greek yogurt and some nutridrench she seemed much improved. Then she laid this just an hour ago. I first was sure it was a lash egg but when I cut it open all that...

    3 days very watery diarrhea???

So odd development- she's back on a nest. Not sure yet if she's actually laying or not. Either way, any thoughts on how long one would expect deworming and corid to start to improve her diarrhea (assuming those are the issues causing it?)

    3 days very watery diarrhea???

Hello (again!) Everyone! I'm genuinely stumped. 3 days ago my (almost) 2 year old black sexlink, Lady, wouldn't come off the nest. She's never been a broody girl and aside from staying tucked onto a nest she wasn't displaying the typical behavior- no poofy screeching pancake, no nest guarding...

    Coccidiosis or worms- pics included.

I just realized I've been doing the preventative dosing on my Corid so that might be why they're not declining but not improving, too :barnieI mean, they're behaving and eating totally normally but their droppings look the same as they did when I began Corid four days ago.

Okay, I've got Valbazen on hand- is it safe to do both at the same time or should I wait until they've finished up the Corid treatment?

    Weed control

I found this and it says corn gluten meal is an effective method for weed control? I've no idea but here's the link to check out. I hope you can find something that works! https://www.gardenguides.com/114759-garden-safe-weed-killer.html

    Coccidiosis or worms- pics included.

Thank you :hugs I've missed you, too! I'm sorry work hasn't been going well! I hope you can find something you *love* doing! As far as my littles, they seem fine. You'd never know they were ill; they're eating and drinking, they enjoyed a watermelon slice yesterday and are as funny as...

    Coccidiosis or worms- pics included.

I'll check out the site but this has been ongoing for about five days and is in all their droppings all day, worse in the mornings but ever present :( We don't have anything with lead paint around and no other source I can think of so I guess that's good.

    Coccidiosis or worms- pics included.

Hi all, Sorry I've not been on much, hubby started a new job and with the kidlets out of school I've not had much free time. We've have heavy rain, heat and humidity all through June and July and five days ago I noticed some bloody poo where my 14 week pullets had been napping in our garage...

OATMEAL IN THE MORNING FOR BREAKFAST

Isn't that the truth? I kept rinsing off corn on the cob :gig And if I tossed feed out to scratch at and they picked at it then looked at me like "what's next? :hmm" I would think they were still hungry and needing a bigger variety in their diet! I ended up having to ferment their feed just to...

OATMEAL IN THE MORNING FOR BREAKFAST

Oats as a fast are fine but the problem is they might start forgoing their nutritionally sound feed and wait for the oats. I made this mistake early on in chicken keeping and getting them back on their regular food was a pain. Now they only get oats AFTER they've had "breakfast" and only...

    Earthquake affecting today's eggs?

Well, it's been a weird two days in regards to my animals but otherwise unremarkable. Two of my three layers hasn't laid since the quake but some idiot nearby has also been letting off large fireworks day and night  I hated to do it but I finally called and reported it last night...

    Earthquake affecting today's eggs?

Our last "real" quake here in the Seattle area was in 01', I think. That was a 6.5/6.6? But the epicenter was quite a bit South so it felt more like the "rolling" type of quake. This was just a mile off and we're not in a suburb laid on concrete so these jolts knocked stuff off counters, rocked...

    Earthquake affecting today's eggs?

We had a smallish earthquake at about 3am last night. It was 4.7 but the epicenter was only about a mile away from us so it shook hard enough to knock things off shelves, tip over things in the garage, etc. I went out to check on my girls last night and while wide awake and clearly shaken they...

    Chickens down

Also, don't do both ACV and electrolyte- just do the packaged electrolytes. I use ACV but I'm not convinced it would "treat" anything. Actually, I'm only still doing it for them because they seem to prefer water with it added vs. Plain water but I've seen no major health benefits and certainly...

Salmonella?! What do I do now????

:confused:Does anyone know how this turned out? Were her chickens carriers of the rare strain or did her children pick it up somewhere else?

I keep hearing the egg laying song....

My Ameraucana just had her first egg song and I think she's still a couple weeks out- every bird is different but definitely keep a watch! Maybe some fake ceramic eggs or golf balls in the nesting boxes will encourage her? Congrats! :wee:yesss:

My hen suddenly can’t seem to use her legs

I'm so sorry, how frustrating! :hugs Are you still doing vitamins? If not I'd begin again and start giving her eye dropper or syringes of electrolytes for the diarrhea. Hopefully it was just the stress of being bullied; a chicken being picked on won't eat or drink much with other's nearby and...

    Fireworks residual power

Try running and outdoor extension cord and getting a box fan for them. They're currently on sale for 16.99 here but most people have an upright fan laying around. How's work going?

Tales from Henrietta: The forever broody hen.

After the marvelous suggestion of using an old rabbit hutch I discovered it in need of several structural repairs including blocking off the nesting box with something sturdy but temporary as I'd love another bun someday. By the time I finished up Monday night she seemed better and I'm thinking...
