Completely Detached Air Cells - Day 1 (Advice Please)

The mail system is so bad. I thought it was bad 10 years ago, but it has gotten so much worse each and every year. I had a single good shipment of hatching eggs yet and live chicks has been a nightmare too. And there is no way to hold these people accountable other than filing a report that does...

    Liege fighter vs Indio Gigante.

I have three of these and can say with 100% they are the nicest chicken I have. They want to be held all the time and prefer eating out of hands. I haven't seen them fight anything yet. I have two girl LFs that are a year old now and they are more likely to fight than the boy IGs. I would say...

    Serama won't eat!

Good news is that three out of the four silkied serama are doing great. One of the roosters though is a bit of a over stresser i think and he stops eating and drinking when i put him with the other seramas in their run. I'm back to feeding him by himself and dosing with poultry cell since it has...

    Egg bound or not?

YAY! Immediate results! So I put her in a warm bath without salt and lubed up my gloved hands with olive oil (all i had) and I massaged her whole belly and vent. I had to get my gloved finger in there a little but just enough to get the vent oiled up. Then I started gently massaging and she...

    Egg bound or not?

I got her in a dark room by herself right now out of the heat. I don't have any epsom salt :( as I am not in the town it's harder to get out here right away. While I was feeling around, some liquid came out and made her belly look a little less watery. I'm thinking the egg is plugging her up...

    Egg bound or not?

Hi everyone! I have a couple of serama and today it looked like they had waterbelly, but after feeling the squishy abdomen, I do feel eggs. They are running around like normal, eating and drinking and generally being cute little monsters, terrorizing their roo. They have just about a month into...

Rooster fighting problem? Burn? Head looks like a big scab (resolved)

I have this happen any time my serama roosters get too much time with anyone other than another serama rooster. I'm housing a rooster that got the snot kicked out of him by one of my serama. They're so nice to people but man they do not like other roosters. You'll want to use lots and lots of...

    Liege fighter vs Indio Gigante.

I have two female liege fighters and no roos so I just ordered two Indios hoping one will be a male. I'm hoping a cross will be pretty nice.

    Serama won't eat!

Actually thats what I ended up doing. I've had vitamin deficiency issue with all four of my silkied serama now. I was watching them and it looks like they are just very picky eaters. They don't like the taste of anything but fresh water or else they dont want to drink it. I've been using a...

    Serama won't eat!

Ok so I have this mother f.... wonderful little frizzlebutt serama rooster. He is about 6 months old now and had to be kept inside because he came down with a vitamin deficiency and stopped walking and all that jazz. Well, he's 100% better now, but the problem is he wont eat or drink more than a...

Hen is stumbling, falling, with droopy wing

There a few things that can make a wing or leg hang. It can be merricks, another disease or an injury. Unfortunately, even if its just an injury, it can cause the same symptoms as merricks because the chicken will start to shut down from being in pain making it look much the same. A hock joint...

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

These chicks were from shipped eggs so I think that may have something to do with it. The coloring is starting to differentiate pretty well though so another month and I think I'll have a pretty good idea. I was thinking it may have been anemic but I've read that their combs can vary in color...

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

I keep getting conflicting reports about this. I'm probably just gonna have to wait until she shoots out an egg, but she looks pretty identical to the hen in this picture to me. I was told things such as combs wont really distinguish between each other until older and mostly the coloring will...

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

How can you tell? The lighter color one definitely doesnt have the same coloring as the definite boy and its tail is much shorter. If they werent the same age i'd still be saying boy as well but seeing as they are, it looks like a coloring difference to me.

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

Here ya go. The raggedy one is the one that I'm iffy about. It might still actually be a girl. As you can see it looks much different than the one I know for sure is a boy. So still having my fingers crossed lol. Same age btw.

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

Just a quick update. Two of the three have started crowing so that hopefully solves that. The other one with the pale comb has the coloring of a roo so I'm going to assume it is until I see an egg. It is underdeveloped compared to the rest and it's comb has started to fall to the side, but is...

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

I am kind of concerned about the one with the lighter colored comb. I've moved him/her back inside while its below freezing and made sure its eating everything it wants (and it does eat a ton). I'm hoping its not anemia. The comb has been that color since birth so I'm not extremely worried but...

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

I really wouldn't pull the trigger on them yet. My only hen which I had a year ago (unfortunately hawk grabbed her) had the same issue as these ones, so I'm going to wait a bit more till their feathers actually grow out a bit more. My rooster I had mating with her grew up together and no one...

    Sexing Ayam Ketawa

Yes most breeds, but if you look up the hens of the Ayam Ketawa, you'll notice, they also have giant waddles even when hens. They extend out passed their heads. Until they're much older and the waddles get much larger, its near impossible to tell since the difference comes from the overall size...
