    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Can’t wait for her eggs! I just have little bantam eggs right now (which are super cute!). I caught her nosing around in the next box today so who knows! It still feels like summertime where I am so maybe she will start laying before fall weather hits?

    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Will SFHs start laying in late winter in a mild climate? Flo will be 10 months on Feb 20 so would it be longer perhaps?

Thanks! I am glad you mentioned that yours laid at 10 months. I was wondering what the usual time frame was for SFHs.

    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Hi all, this is my SFH Florence (aka Broke Toe Flo)...she has a deformed or broken toe which is why the breeder gave me a deal on her. I believe she hatched in April. No eggs yet.

    Swedish Flower Hens!!

Thanks all! I think she hatched in April as well. My kids call her “Broke Toe Flo” and she makes the cutest little chirpy noises when she talks to me. Not a big cuddler, but not afraid of people.

    Swedish Flower Hens!!

Hi everyone! This is my SFH, Florence. I got her as a grow out so I’m not sure how old she is. Her hatching group came from the SF Project in Sweden, but she has a broken toe (or deformed) so she was given to me as an add-on when I bought a sport white cream legbar pullet. Any idea how old she...

4 month old pullet uncoordinated and constant poopy butt

Thank you for your reply! She has no apparent injuries or anything on her body at all...I inspect her when she gets a bath. I will switch back to the starter/grower, thank you for that info! I was worried about Marek’s too but she definitely gets up and about and goes with the flock, albeit...

4 month old pullet uncoordinated and constant poopy butt

Hi all, (Disclaimer: this is my first flock ) I finally got a video that shows how my 4 month old white legbar wobbles around like she just put on 5 inch heels. She’s been doing this for a good month and I’ve been closely watching her. Her butt is constantly gross too, but none of my other 3...

    Uncoordinated Youngster

Hi there, wondering if you found out anything about your wobbly chick? I have one doing the same thing. Trying to get a good video to create a post but yours seems to be doing what my 4 mo old pullet is as well.

Using a desk shelf topper in coop?

That was my main worry- roost bars stacked like that. I am liking your idea! I might make some little doors for some of the openings for storage and leave 2 nest boxes. Thanks!

Using a desk shelf topper in coop?

My coop is going to be a 4’x2’ heavy plywood board on 4x4 posts with a 22” area underneath for them. The whole run is enclosed. It’s 8’ long, 5’ tall (roof will make it 6) and 4’ wide. There is also an additional run area also. I am in the process of building/designing the actual coop but the...

Using a desk shelf topper in coop?

So I have this unused heavy shelving unit that is supposed to screw into the top of a desk that is the exact dimensions of my coop interior. If I use it, I’ll definitely put several coats of cleanable paint on it. As I’m new to coop building, would this be a fun addition in your opinion or too...

What should I put down in this run for drainage?

Yea we dug a lot of the good loam soil out for a new garden and planned to backfill this one with something to help drain! Thanks so much for your help!

What should I put down in this run for drainage?

Hey everyone, I’m building my coop and have a question about drainage and what things/order to put down in the run. It rained a lot the past few days here so I can see where the water is pooling. I’d like to put down drainage rocks and sand, and we are going to put hwc along the bottom of the...

Look on the FB group Rare Chicken Breeds, someone might have some that you could pick up (idk about shipping that few!). I drove last week to NC to buy a grown out pullet for my lone girl. And now I want another one since I think everyone is right about having more than 2!

Hello from a new chicken mama!

I was just thinking about this today! I think I will get one more. I’d like to find a grown out pullet (6ish weeks) that I can drive and pick up. Is the best place one this site on the BST forum? And thank you everyone for the eggcelent welcome!

Hello from a new chicken mama!

Hi! I’m in South Carolina (US). I have 4 seven week olds, my first crew. I got them from the “all pullet” bin at TSC, and only one is a pullet. So I’ll have one SL Cochin and am getting another same age lavender orp pullet to be her friend. I’m so sad about the boys but I can’t keep roos in my...

I will even bring them to you! I am just ill over the fact that I got 4 “pullet” chicks and 3 turned out to be roos! Lesson learned, thanks TSC. I can’t have roosters so I’m trying to rehome.
