My hatch date was 4/6. I figured out how to post pics, hopefully...if this doesn't post as a photo please tell me what I am doing wrong.
This is one of our little red Silkies. We bought 9 Silkie eggs, 3 white and the rest red. One white one was clear and was discarded day 14 and one red...
Good Evening Friends...just to give a short update...we started with 9 Silky eggs (3 whites, and 6 reds, all purchased from "My Pet Chicken " and shipped by usps Priority mail. After candling on day 3 we found one not developing. and discarded by the end of week 2. Everybody else looked good...
Our first little Silkie just hatched 15 minutes ago and it is slipping and sliding all around the plastic floor of my Brinsea Mini Advance EX. The humidity has jumped to 81%. Is this too high? I am afraid to lift the lid to release some of the humidity. The chick is all over the place...
Thanks all to your excellent answers. I will NOT touch. Yes, this is my 1st incubator hatch. I had a previous broody hatch in which all three hatched over a period of 3 days.

Hurray, day 20 and this morning we have 2 pips and someone peeping! How's everyone else doing? These are Silkies and I have 8 of them in my bator. Started with 9. One never developed at all...infertile egg I think.

Two of my eggs are moving around a bit, I hear a little clink every once in a while! I thought I was crazy, so I got up and watched for 5 or so minutes and saw it with my own eyes, very cool. I have a dozen polish due on 4/6 in my Brinsea Eco 20 and a dozen silkies due on 4/11 in a...
I did lockdown today, temp 99.5 F, humidity raised to 60%, and automatic turner set to "off". I keep staring at those eggs! I am running a Brinsea Mini Advance EX with the humidity pump and digital output. Very handy. My first time using an incubator. 8 red and white Silkie eggs.

I really would like to know the answer to this, I asked it a page ago. I don't know when to discard my eggs that don't seem to be growing, especially because I want room to put my hygrometer in there. BUT, I don't want to chance throwing away a live egg. Thanks for any guidance!!
Hi...
Hatch date 4/6. I originally set 9 Silkie eggs in my Brinsea Mini Advance EX. We discarded one white silkie egg yesterday, day 7 as it showed itself to be infertile...never had any veins or any sign of an embryo...clear egg. I finished candling all eggs this morning. One is iffy. It was...
Hi Friends,
I set 9 Silkie eggs on 3/17 at midnight and I estimate a hatching date of 4/6. These were fertile hatching eggs bought online through the mail. I ordered 3 white silkie and 4 red silkie eggs because my new bator only has space for 7 eggs. It is the Brinsea Mini Advance EX. They...
How do I get my Silkie hen in the mood to sit on some eggs? She went broody about 20 weeks ago and hatched out 3 mixed breed chicks. Now I want her to get broody again because I bought an incubator but it only holds 7 eggs and the hatchery was kind enough to send 2 extra purebred red silkie...
I have a Hen with three 1 month old chicks. She is pecking at her feathers like she might have mites or something. She hatched the clutch of 3 (100% clutch rate!) in our kitchen in an old dog corral. This is her first hatch and we have never had any insect problem in our small flock. My...
We just had 3 Silkie eggs hatch from a first time broody hen. When we realized (NE PA) that she was sitting on a clutch out in the chicken barn, we brought Mama, and the 3 eggs into the house and set them up with some litter in an old dog corral. It is below freezing here now and I'm thinking...

We have a 4 week old chick who cries out in pain when pooping. She does not have pasty butt and is able to make a bowel movement but just lets out a couple of loud painful squawks when pooping. At first I thought she had an infection in her vent and we applied some antibiotic ointment just...
