Good morning my fellow chickenistas. Due to circumsatances beyond my control, i will not be able to make chickenstock tomorrow. Profound disappointment on my part as i was looking forward to seeing all of you. Have a good time for me and enjoy.
Regards...amy
Ok my peeps. Been working mad crazy hours cause we lost a tech. Add 3 coops and a brooder of 30 chicks to that and sleep has become a luxury. Anyways, i am putting in for that day off. I can bring hatching eggs from my red pen (there is two black sexlinks in there too) and contmplating...
Afternoon all. Just read through 5 pages. And so
Sweatpea....gotta do everyone and clean out and spray/dust the coop. Have to kill the cooties and all the hiding spots they are in.
Silkies are great birds with good personalities and easy to handle. Mine lay eggs well and consistantly. I...
Bahahaha! Good one boskelli! My slackers are picking up laying again and boy are they laying them big! Egg customers are happy. Silkie girls are still laying up a storm.
Lots of sickness going around. Get well everyone.
Morning all. Wind blew like crazy all day yesterday but not 1 flake of snow. This is a weird winter. No snow on the ground. Chickens are loving it though. Let the silkies out to play this morning since the wind has died. Otherwise they would have been blown into the next state!
Big coop...
Morning all. Wind has finally stopped howling and it's a little warmer out. Cheeps are happy about that. Reds are busy destroying a turkey carcass. Those ladies are experts at breaking the bones down and eating them.
Sorry you have so much snow blowing to do rancher. We have had no snow...
Hello all. I am looking for a breeder who has the Stuckey line of barred rocks. I am interested in getting some chicks or hatching eggs. Pm me if you have them or know who does. Thanks!
Morning all. Been a while since I've been on. Holidays are over and insurance days are slowing at the pharm so I'm popping in. Weird winter here. Moves between warm and instant popsickle. No snow yet, which makes the chickens happy. Reds are finally coming out of a hard molt and are...
Morning all. I think the weather is messing up my layers. No eggs yesterday. The overcast weather doesn't help. Going to see about growing sprouts or fodder for them. Found some videos on pinter estate that showed how to do it. Pretty easy. They are certainly eating enough! Especially my...
Morning all. No eggs yesterday. They have lights and supplements and they get turkey/game bird feed for the higher protein content. I guess I'll just have to wait it out. My silkies are laying some in the one coop. The pullets aren't as of yet.
I looked at nip at one time but decided not...
Morning chickenistas. Well, I found out that the bear boards will defiantly do the job. I accidently stepped on one while working around my one silkie coop. Put a hole in my boot but I stood still when I felt it. Didn't break the skin thank goodness. It will defiantly put a whole lot of...
Bahahaha! You are too much rancher! However, it does give me ideas for my little chicken man next door and he has a little brother as well!!!
So my slacker hens arent done molting yet as I am only getting 2 to 3 eggs a day from the 19. I informed The Duke that he better have a word with his...
Morning all. So sorry to read of all the losses. Unfortunately there are too many people out there who have dogs that shouldn't and some of you have paid the price for it. Lately I have been seeing more posts on Fb of animals that were left behind by owners who moved. I wish we could treat...
Morning all. Another damp day today. Have to clean out the one silkie coop. Threw some boss in the big coop so the girls can do their own housekkeping. Two eggs yesterday from 19 hens. Still molting. Have to hit everyone with ivermectin soon. My twice a year thing.
The Duke got...
Morning all. Glad to hear that dw is doing alright rancher. Congrats on the new bun baking! Lisa, the straw around the bottom of the coop is good. It will help keep the floor warmerror and if you leave an opening the cheeps can use it to get out of the wind.
My house is empty again as my...
Lisa...from what I can see of your coops, your silkies should be just fine. Ventilation is key. Keeping the coop dry and ventilated will keep them warm. Mine have a smaller coop and I just change out the litter if needed.
Morning all. Last day of my oldest daughters visit from ga. She...
