NY chicken lover!!!!

Could it be eating your eggs? You say you don't have food out, but it must be eating, and since you don't see eggs...... Maybe it's taking them to its burrow and eating them there? Leaving the shells underground.
I had a Chipmunk take eggs. Squirrels too. I took the attitude that "this is WAR!" with those blasted Squirrels.

Poison isn't an option. We lost one of our favorite cats last summer and I strongly suspect he ate poison himself, or he ate a tainted mouse. One of our back neighbors was using poison.

I have been thinking about mixing plaster of Paris with chicken feed. Heard that's a good method that wouldn't hurt a cat.

At one point I told my husband he should fill the holes in with glass shards and let the little (insert dirty word here) cut himself up while redigging his holes. J said it was inhumane.

All I know is I need to nix this bugger soon.

So what are you all planning for spring chicks? I'm going to do some freedom rangers this spring...maybe a dozen. Then I'm going to focus on replenishing my coop.

I'll be looking for local quality standard cochins, light brahma, and I want to replace my BCM cock and two hens. So if anybody has those types and wants to sell eggs or chicks late spring or early summer, let me know.

I've got some olive egger eggs for trade (or at least, I expect to, once everybody starts laying again).

@Sweetpea3829 I heard coarse steel wool in the holes. Messes with their innards. There is a spray insulting foam sealant, that expanding stuff in a can that supposedly rodents and ants won't chew cause its bitter, it's labeled for it not the regular stuff.
Both you probably wouldn't want your chickens to eat.

There is a gathering at Chicken girl 15 in May. Check out the Mini chickenstock 2016 link.....

@Devona our doc with our kids for persistent fever, not getting knocked down with every four hr dose, to alternate every two hrs ibuprophen then acetaminophen. That way it's still every four hrs for each.
School kids are disease ridden vermin.
Hope yours feels better soon. Always seems to be something 'going around'...

That's exactly what I do, beer can! When the temp starts to raise before the four hours is up, I alternate. But thankfully this time the fever doesn't seem to be ongoing. It's down for a half day or so, then starts to raise again. Today there's no fever, but he's stuffy. He's Been watching mine craft videos on YouTube and power rangers on Netflix. If the temp doesn't go up tonight, he'll be off to school in the morning. He won't be too pleased about it

Funny story...our youngest cat snuck into the coop one night while I was checking up on things. Didn't see him sneak in there. The next morning, there he was, lol. Unfortunately, I have caught him stalking chickens, especially the little sebrights. Can't trust him to not do naughty with the chickens. Our other two cats are pretty much good for nothing, lol.

What have you guys all used for bait? We've tried bacon, pb, chili, crackers, cheese...all to no avail.

I've uses peanuts for house mice. The electric trap o bought recommended peanuts. But now I don't remember if they were supposed to be fresh or roasted.

Bahahaha! Good one boskelli! My slackers are picking up laying again and boy are they laying them big! Egg customers are happy. Silkie girls are still laying up a storm.

Lots of sickness going around. Get well everyone.
