    Quail with neurological symptoms

So today we discovered this on her leg. It's hard. My guess is some kind of infection but it's odd because she was in a very clean brooder until recently. She seems much better surprisingly, not running backwards as much and looking less scruffy..so kind of disappointed to find this 😞 Any ideas...

    Quail with neurological symptoms

That makes sense! It's like it's how she starts her motor..before she can go forward she has to run backwards. My gut is there's not much I can do, but she seems content and the others aren't bothering her so I'll give her some time. Thanks for the response!

    Quail with neurological symptoms

Hi! I'm very new to quail.. I have a 5 week old coturnix that seems to have some neurological issues. She scoots backwards and tucks her head (longer than the poop scoot, ha!), sometimes stumbling. She's much smaller than the other quail and is very scruffy looking (not smooth, healthy feathers...

    Sexing Royal Palm

Some updated pics. The guy I got him from has a few toms the same age that are very clearly boys-big wide snoods. They are blue slate and the long n name🤣 turkeys-he doesnt have any other royal palms. Rumps (as we call him/her) has gobbled once when a dog came over..but I've read hens can gobble...

    Sexing Royal Palm

some updated pics! noticed he's developed some black trim on his chest feathers and his snood is getting bigger..getting stronger boy vibes maybe? (I had him in visiting the woodshop and he was not happy about my seramas😄)

    Sexing Royal Palm

It's snood doesn't go over it's beak, but when strutting it gets pretty close. The turkey (and it's snood) has grown a lot in the last few weeks. When it struts, it holds it for quite a while..not sure if hens do that? It strutted again today and was prancing all around the yard showing off to...

    Sexing Royal Palm

Hi! I'm new to turkeys. We got this royal palm recently. He's a few months old, but the person we got him from wasn't sure on age. I *think* he's a boy, but I know hens can strut some too, and I've only seen him do it once. It's never gobbled and is quite docile. He (she?) has a little beard...

    Fibro genetics?

Curiosity post: I've been hatching from my free ranging flock that consists of black copper marans and easter eggers. I had one little pullet hatch that appears to be somewhat "fibro", black eyes, skin, and legs. Do either of these breeds (i know, I know, easter eggers aren't really a breed🤣)...

Best Free Range Bird for Meat

Hi! After raising chickens for fun for the last few years, I have started the journey into sustainability and raising my own chickens for meat as well as eggs. I started with a small seperate flock of marans and ameracaunas with the idea of using the extra roos for meat and keeping the hens for...

    Serama pullet or cockerel?

Oh phew! I was leaning towards girl because all the boys seem to show pretty early, but it's a pretty curious and confident little one compared to her sister so I was a little unsure.

    Serama pullet or cockerel?

This serama baby is about 5-6 weeks old and I'm a little stumped on gender. Any guesses? The last two pics are of an obvious pullet and cockerel from the same hatch. And the other is the whole group (lots of roos😅).

    Showing serama cockerel

Haha me either! It's a table top show. He's very friendly and easy to handle and I've started trying to pose him. Any recommendations?
