    Lethargic rooster?

Ok so I looked him over further - he is pooping bright green now. I THINK I saw a few mites on his back. I did separate him from everyone else. I just cleaned my whole coop (like I said previously) and coated it with DE. I've never had mites before... what should I do? And should I still treat...

    Lethargic rooster?

I have a year old speckled sussex who has been incredibly protective from the get-go. However, a few days ago, I noticed he wasn't hanging out with his ladies (they free range). I did introduce 8.5 week old chicks about 2 weeks ago (they all seem perfectly healthy). My rooster will get up and...

When can my ducks go outside?!

They are partially feathered. I'm in southeastern Wisconsin. I've taken them outside for 45 minutes at a time and they scream and have a fit when I bring them back in 😂

When can my ducks go outside?!

I am new to ducks and have 2 pekins that are just about 4 weeks old. They are still in their brooder but the heat lamp is off now. I'm giving them chick grower with brewers yeast and they have a water bowl big enough to walk in and wash their beaks. We have a duck coop ready to go for them with...

    Mild cross beak?

I have a chick that is 6 days old. It has a bit of cross beak and I'm wondering if there is anything special I need to do with it. It seems to be eating and drinking just fine and is proportionate in size to the other 15 chicks that are the same age. I have included a picture of what the chick...

    Eye problem!

The eye is looking much better! It has stopped draining. The fluff around its eye is still slightly discolored but it has been rinsing it off in its water :)

    Eye problem!

Yes, this is how it's eye was when I got it. It can dunk it's eyes and nares. I'll put some neosporin on it. Thanks!

    Chick can't stand?

I got a chick in the mail today and it won't stand up. It is always tipping to the left. It eats and drinks when I help it but otherwise it just tips over. Any ideas on how to help this little one?

    Can't stand?

I just got a chick in the mail and it can't stand. It is always tipping to left left and then lays on it's side. It seems strong and is cheeping loudly. I have to hold it by the water and food to get it to eat. Any idea what may be wrong and how I can help it?

Just started laying and there is blood on the egg?

That's kind of what I was thinking. Once she gets used to laying, does it typically get better?

I did check her vent and it is completely normal.

Just started laying and there is blood on the egg?

I have a lady that started laying about 2 weeks ago. Her first couple of eggs had some blood on them but it seemed to lessen each day. Well there is now blood on her eggs again (for the past couple of days). She is acting normal - eating, drinking, and interacting with my other chickens. Is this...

    Coop for cochin bantams

I will be building a coop to house 4 cochin bantams in Wisconsin. It is cold and winter's can be quite drawn out. I am trying to decide what type of coop to build for them. Would it make sense to build a light duty coop with no insulation and just keep them in our heated garage in the winter? Or...

    How did this happen?!

Any idea what it might have been? There is snow on the ground and there are no tracks on the outside of the run.

    How did this happen?!

My coop is on the border of some woods. I live in Wisconsin and the run is typically covered by leaves but is more wide open now. I had not been closing the coop at night, I feel I may need to start now. I believe this single chicken was killed by something different than the initial 7.

    How did this happen?!

Over Christmas, I lost 7 chickens to a hawk or an owl I am guessing (?) I was out of town and came home to them being gone. Upon return, I found 2 piles of feathers and 1 carcass (but only its head was gone). It seems like they were taken at night because it was a group that always slept next to...
