Thank you for your comment. It is quite small so like you say I think it will be concentrated on these few eggs. Very excited to see how they turn out once she is a bit older :)
She’s so funny, I adopted her from a rescue centre and don’t know very much about her but think she might be an older girl bless her heart. She lays the most lovely white eggs though :)
Mine absolutely love the being out whatever the weather. At first I was concerned too but as long as they are happy and have to choice to go somewhere dry I just leave them to it. I have come home to a very muddy silkie today
I do wonder that too. The vet put a needle in it to see if it could be drained as an abscesses but there was nothing to come out. When it was larger she was struggling to drink but now the swelling has gone down she seems to be acting normal again
Does anybody have any clue what this lump under our hen’s beak might be? It’s quite firm to the touch, right between the wattles (which were also swollen originally but are back to normal now.) She’s had it almost two weeks now and is still eating, drinking and acting normal. Been to the vet and...
I am hoping to get a Brahma pullet soon so this thread has been really helpful.
My only concern is whether their feathered feet will cause me problems living in a very rainy UK. I currently have a mixed flock of a silkie hen and cockerel and 2 Marans.
Do you find the brahmas are extra work or...
Thank you for replying. I will try that!! I am a bit more concerned now as she had discharge from her mouth after drinking but hopefully the Benadryl will work
My young hen who is still laying, eating, drinking and playing in the garden had developed a lump under her beak. I have only noticed this today but it may have come on later last night after they went to bed.
Does anyone had any ideas what the cause may be and how I should treat this?
Thank...
Oh gosh this is my first year of having chickens so have never experienced it before. Will have to make sure it doesn’t get out of hand. After tonight’s drama the chickens ended up knocking some of their food pellets in to the grass and as much as I have tired I can’t get it all up so no doubt...
Thank you for your reply. I thought I had escaped them think now. I haven’t seen one before or heard the chickens make noise like that. It was in the outside of the run just next to it when I saw it so not sure if it has got in yet. I had a walk around the outside and couldn’t see any holes it...
My chickens were making a lot of noise freaking out in their run about an hour ago and when I went out to check I saw a rat run away down the outside of the run. It’s been an hour and they are still unsettled and not wanting to go up to bed. Has anyone else had this problem and do you think this...
