    Help. My first sick chicken

Thank you for your responses. We put her down, she was in bad shape. 🥺😭 the rest of the flock appears healthy, hoping it stays that way.

    Help. My first sick chicken

I think she might have sour crop. She’s worse today. Won’t eat... not even eggs. She’s pooping and it smells horrid and it’s green. It’s stuck all over her rear end. She’s just lays there with her eyes closed. Her crop feels squishy. I think I might ask my husband to put her out of her misery ☹️.

    Help. My first sick chicken

What’s wrong with my chicken? Her comb is very pale, she won’t eat and she just stands there barely moving. I just noticed her so I put her in a box in my bathtub with water (she won’t drink though). She is almost 2 years old and the rest of the chickens seem fine. I’m not sure what to do, first...

    Silkie experts?

Picked it up at family farm and home, straight run. I really wanted a silkie and hoped for a hen. I could care less if it’s a rooster but my husband doesn’t want one. So hoping for a hen. Sweet little thing.

    Heartbroken. Duck raped chicken

I have 1 drake, 4 female ducks and 6 hens. All pretty much raised together. My drake has always been such a good boy until this spring when his hormones went nuts. Yesterday he got my favorite chicken and did damage to her vent. She was bleeding and leaking poop. I literally cried over the...

Annie the egg farm rescue chicken Update!

Months ago I put a “wanted” ad for a chicken sitter in my area on a chicken FB page. Someone responded today saying they were new to the group but they were in my area and they “sit chickens”. I found a chicken sitter months ago but I told her I would contact her if I needed a back up. She then...

Rescue Duck. Please don’t chastise me.

No. There’s a big sign asking people not to feed them but every time I drive by there are young kids with a loaf of bread .

Rescue Duck. Please don’t chastise me.

I should go when the weather is horrible, cold and raining What an incredible story of dedication. I always thought dogs were so emotionally intelligent and discounted many other species. Ducks each have their own personalities and are more like us than I ever knew. They have their likes and...

Rescue Duck. Please don’t chastise me.

I did think about it but I’m a little worried that I will get a mouth full from someone who doesn’t understand. It takes explaining that this duck is in danger and he’s a pet, not a wild animal. I don’t want to ask anyone to do anything they feel uncomfortable doing, or have an embarrassing...

Rescue Duck. Please don’t chastise me.

Latest attempt was today. He wouldn’t get within reach. He knows I’m after him. There were less ducks present but still too many. They get in the way and I don’t want to murder ducks by accidentally stomping on them. There are always several between me and him. That would kind of cancel out my...

Rescue Duck. Please don’t chastise me.

Couldn’t tell you about law in Australia! I recently read a comment from someone from New Zealand and it was totally fine to care for wild ducks there. Not here, it’s against the law, but the domestic ducks who are set free are in the gray area. I’ve read you need to be careful picking up the...

I came with a net! It was as if not only the Pekin had been warned about it but ALL the wild ducks. The second I put my hand on that net, they all booked it. I think I’m better off trying to grab him with my hands!
