Thank you so much everyone! I read this the evening y’all wrote me, right before I went to check on her, so I would know what to do for her for the night.
But when I went out there, she was walking some. Not perfectly, and not as quickly as she used to, and not as far without taking breaks...
Hope you’re power gets fixed soon, and you all get some air flow. We’ve just experienced about 3 power outages back to back. Then our ac went out. Miserable in Texas! All is fixed today though. Hope that’s the case for you too soon!
Oh you said some are in your house. Yeah I’d blow the fans on them. Our AC is out downstairs and I’m having to bring our 2 injured chickens inside during the night, and I just put the fan on “oscillate” on them. They go right to sleep with the gentle breeze.
I’m not an expert. Here is my experience though living in Texas, where it gets in the 100s sometimes.
Not sure what their set-up is. I don’t think the babies need their lamps with it being 90. I guess that may not be what you’re asking though. :) I would make sure they have some good air...
It hasn’t gotten swollen yet. It doesn’t feel hotter or colder, but I will keep checking on that. Thank you for that advice!
The reason I thought it may not be hurting is because I thought what if she completely lost feeling in it. I thought maybe that was why she wasn’t walking on it or...
Thank you so much for tagging someone who may can help! I realized that was butchered with typos. My autocorrect is going nuts. I think I corrected everything so hopefully it will make more sense by the time that person reads it. Thank you so much!
I don’t know why title says “now.” It was a couple of days ago. Can’t figure Out how to edit title.
This is my 2nd chicken injured in one week. We’ve never had any chickens injured his badly, now 2 in one week.
So this one got on a bench with slats in it. I guess her foot slipped in the slat...
Thank you! I am definitely going to look at the information and trim him. Don’t want this happening again to any others. Good to think maybe he didn’t do it on purpose.
Strangely, my kids kind of love this little bantam rooster (from a distance). We raised him from a baby. He’s my oldest...
Oh great idea Kathy! I didn’t know that. I suppose I can look up online how to do it. Every time we go out with the chickens, the kids and I have to walk around with a net or broom so he won’t come after us. He doesn’t come after my husband... just the women and children.
I really don’t...
Thank you so much! That’s very helpful. Yes, we do have a rooster, and he’s a mean one. I’ve never seen him be mean to another chicken, but he is mean to us. I wish I knew if it were the rooster or not. I plan to follow this advice and hope she heals nicely! Thanks again!
Ok we got a better look, and it’s not gaping or any ligaments or anything torn like I thought, thank God! Just skin torn off I think! Here are pictures.
I went out to find one of my young chickens (about 2-3 months old) has been seriously injured. I don’t know how. She was limping and when I took a closer look, I could see ripped open flesh around the hip area. She’s still walking though. I have a wound spray, but this is a deep wound. I...
