    Help!! Poorly hen

Hi all, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my one year old girl, she hasn’t laid in about one week and the last few days has started producing creamy watery poop, please see photo. She didn’t want to eat yesterday and has become more lethargic, strangely her biological sister...

    Gasping and hiccuping

Thanks @Eggcessive, I’ll get my husband to help hold her tomorrow while I take a look down her throat for mucus. Fingers crossed it’s something she’ll get over as she’s so young I’d hate to loose her. Will report back tomorrow with any more findings.

    Gasping and hiccuping

Thanks for your reply @Eggcessive, there’s no discharge from anywhere or bubbly eyes. In the little video of pinkie that was quite a quiet ‘hiccup’ but they’ve been pretty loud and causing her to really jolt. Ive started the chickens on their worming course this week, but if no improvement can...

    Gasping and hiccuping

Pinkie hiccuping/gasping Hi all, I have a 5 month old polish hen/cockerel, Pinkie... still unsure of sex! She occasionally makes a real screeching hiccup noise but today I’ve noticed that her breathing is quite gaspy and she’s been doing the noise a lot more today. It’s not a hot pant as I’m...

Do you think this would be coccidiosis??

Yes you’re right.... I’m sure there’s probably a YouTube video for it, as there is for everything! but without the knowledge to understand what you’re looking at or the ability to test any findings then it’s not something I would attempt.

Do you think this would be coccidiosis??

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions 🤗 it's much appreciated, I’ve contacted The British Veterinary Poultry Association to ask advice on chicken necropsy, I’ve already buried dear Betty under the tree in garden beside the family dogs ... an honour that hasn’t been bestowed to any other...

Do you think this would be coccidiosis??

It’s a very sad day, my beloved Betty, the friendliest and most character full little black and white spotted Pekin bantam has just died. 😢 About 10 days ago I noticed she looked a bit pale but she had just gone into moult so I wasn’t overly concerned, after a few days she really did look quite...

    Rude Cockerel

Thanks weetamoo93, that’s good to know. My young cockerel is also quite flighty and nervous which I hope he’ll also grow out of, he’s a Pekin bantam like the majority of the flock and they’re generally quite docile and friendly so his naughty behaviour was quite unexpected!!

    Rude Cockerel

I’m also searching the forum because I have the exact same problem! Albert my young cockerel is such a brute, he’s nothing like his gentle predecessor Barry who would wine and dine his girls and show them a good time with lots of treats and dancing... Albert steals all the food and has...

Egg bound and then shell-less egg

Hi all, I currently have a sick little 2 year old Ko Shamo (in the laundry basket beside my bed!) Her and her sister have always had a bit of trouble passing their eggs but on Thursday evening I noticed this girls bottom was rather mucky. I scooped her up for a closer inspection and to clean...

    Deceased chicken within 24 hours

Hi, thanks for the quick response! Olive was a Pekin Bantam (the little cream girl at the front of my profile picture) and had gone broody once before roughly about a month ago, I didn’t let her sit on the eggs but continually kept removing her from the nest boxes. I don’t know exactly when her...

    Deceased chicken within 24 hours

Hi everyone, I’ve just joined the forum to ask advice on the death of my little Pekin bantam girl Olive. This time yesterday Olive appeared to be her usual happy and healthy self, in fact I was grumbling as she seemed to be going broody yet again clucking away being very vocal (she was only 1...
