I'd be interested in seeing what others say also. I switched to low humidity after my first few hatches a couple years ago did horrible at the recommended higher humidity. Have had great success with the low humidity for chick survival but have the same issue with maybe 10% off the hatch ending...
Hello and welcome :) I'm in Magnolia but our farm with chickens is in Quinton. The work is very rewarding and at least they pay you back with breakfast, lol. We have seramas, EEs and orpingtons that we breed. We love our chickens.
One hen was killed and we just discovered this under the wing of another. I have a tough decision to make. This is an older hen, doesn't really lay anymore, BUT this is one of the first 4 chickens I ever owned. She helped start what is now a 40 plus chicken farm. I don't want her to be in pain...
It sounds like what you're interested in doing is hatching them knowing ahead of time that you have someplace for them to go because you can't keep them. In that case, you should contact a "rent-a-chick" place near you. Normally they already have the chicks, but perhaps they can allow you to...
No they came from shipped eggs that I hatched from ebay. These were kind of an accident, not what I ordered, but they've kind of grown on me. I can't keep them all though since I have my Orpington projects to work on too.
That's the same as I heard. Check out Skip Daily on "rare chicken breed sell/swap" on Facebook. He breeds them and getting good prices for them too. He could probably confirm it for us
Is she free ranging or in a run? Just wondering if it's possible that's she is laying them elsewhere. Some are late layers and if she was not damaged internally then hopefully you will have eggs from her soon. If she free ranges, it is possible she is jut not laying in the nesting boxes with the...
I'm sorry but I have to decline your offer, I'm currently not interested in a hatching game. Personally, yes, I have enough faith in the scientific method to lend at least a little credence to the findings published in a peer reviewed scientific journal. I am not forcing or even requesting that...
Not rude at all. This is a forum where we can help each other. I'd hate to see someone think they are buying round eggs and getting all pullets only to find out that is not the case though. I have a biology degree so I go looking for evidence when I see things like this and I shared the...
