Oh well that's good to know! This is our first flock and they're all the same aged and have been raised together from week 1. This is the only one who's displaying strong signs of roosterdom but I guess there's still time for the others...
He's a very bossy chick, like if the others wander too...
What age do you think he might start getting aggressive with the girls? He's already running after the others and kinda "bluff charging" them, but they all do that to some extent this one just more so. I'd like to keep him but he's already kind of a jerk and I'm wondering if it's going to get...
Alright, this one will be 8 weeks this weekend. Sold as an ameraucana, probably an Easter egger. The comb got real red over night, I think rooster by the husband is not convinced. What do you think? Too early to tell?
Yeah we haven't put the roof on yet, we have corrugated metal panels and there will be a 10 inch overhang over the windows We wanted to paint and get the hardware cloth nailed in before we put the panels on.
We don't know what we're doing with the nesting boxes yet! Original plan was to pop them out below the larger window on the short side but we were hoping there might be enough space to have them inside the coop to save the hassle of trying to attach things. This whole process has been a learning...
Yes hardware cloth for the run and around the bottom of the coop. We've got corrugated metal panels for the roof of the run to keep out rain/snow/hawks. We're also making plexiglass covers for the windows with holes drilled in for winter time.
This is the first time and husband and I have ever built anything other than ikea furniture! So i'm pretty happy with how it's turning out but I'd love to know peoples thoughts on ventilation. So we have two widows on the "sides" but nothing so far on the front and back of the coop. Should we...

Here are the girls(?) At least we're fairly sure 3 of them are definitely girls, jury's still out though...
We have a Rhode island Red, a gold laced wyandotte, a barred rock, an australorp, and an ameraucana. Though we got them all from the local feed store not a breeder so the ameraucana is probably just an Easter egger. We had another Wyandotte but we lost it the first week :(
Hey, I'm new to chickens and this site has been a godsend! We currently have 5 chicks, probably around 6 weeks old? Fuzzy on their hatch date. Thanks for all the wonderful advice so far!
