My first attempt was with a turkey egg that I wasn't sure was even fertile, she hadn't been with the boys in a little while. I knew nothing about hatching and didn't even have an incubator. I'm sure you could guess, nothing hatched. Then, I tried chickens and only got one out of 7 eggs. Luckily...
thank you, she definitely has lots of energy. She always starts jumping around and chirping when I left them free range and yesterday she chased away a crow! I really hope she goes broody because I think she will be a great mom:fl
Hey everyone! I have a bourbon red turkey hen who only has one wing. She will be laying soon and I was wondering what yall think about letting her hatch her own chicks. She is very healthy and looks like she could handle it. The only reason I'm asking is because I know it is a lot of work for...
Thank you,
She had a companion that passed away and so I'm looking for a new one but I wanted to know what she was because I didn't really want to get a tom and then have two fighting toms.
Hey everyone. I have a turkey who is about 4 and a half months now (I think) and I can't tell what it is. I think it could be a girl because of its nose piece(I forget what it's called) It hasn't gobbled yet but it struts when my French bulldog is out. It seems like he/she is trying to protect...
Stay calm and give it 24 hours before going to help. I have never had one pip face down so I can't give you much help with that. However, I just hatched some chicks last week and had one pip at the wrong end. It had been over 24 hours and still no progress. So I cracked the shell off so that it...
Hello everyone, I have a broody hen who has been sitting for 15 days. It's almost lockdown day so I need to move her out of the coop. However, it's just her and the rooster. I am wondering if he will be okay alone for about a week while she's hatching eggs and raising them. Also, has anyone ever...
Hey there. What I would do is candle them and make sure the air sack is in its normal place. If it is they should be okay. Since they had poop on them they might not have been very fresh making them have a lower chance to grow. However, I wouldn't worry to much about it. Candle them on day seven...
Hey everyone, yesterday I went outside to check on my goats and make sure they were well and healthy. Thats when I noticed my doe had hair loss on her back legs. There was also scabbing. It looks like its only on the outside of her legs and its below her "knees". She doesn't seem to be itching...
I feed him chick feed because I read to do that for bantams.
I wouldn't say he's been under any stress.
There is a chance he could have fallen off his perch and he is with other roosters so he might have gotten in a fight.
I have not looked at his preening.
I separated him and his poop looks...
I've never had this happen to me but I have had them hatch on the opposite end of the egg. the pointy side not the round side. I think it should be fine. some chicks can take 24 hours to hatch and with the others hatching it will probably make her want to come out as well
Hello. hatching can be scary. I have hatched out so many chicks. a good thing I do is make it think there are other chicks by peeping. Peeping encourages them to come out. If it is still alive when the others come out it will probably work harder when it hears them. its important to make sure...
