Ivermectin use for scaly leg mites?

My vet told me no withdrawl required. This is a medicine that humans use and it is in such a minuet dose for chickens it will have not negative effect on eggs.

    Treating with Ivermectin

Ivermectin has been used for chickens and all animals for over 30 years. Recently government regulations changed and want specific testing done particular to chickens and the manufacturer did not do that so they had to change the label. Vets still give it for lice and mites as they know it works.

Good girl gone broody - how do I know when she's done?

I always release them into the flock and give a good 5 minute feed of treats to everyone. They seem to forget that the broody was away .

Good girl gone broody - how do I know when she's done?

When you take her out of the cage put her with the flock and feed them at least 5 minutes worth of treats. It really helps for them to just be part of the group again.

Should I let a broody hen raise chicks?

We let our first broody hens do it in kennels so we could keep a close eye and ensure things were warm as so forth. If you can let her come out of kennel when she needs to bathe, eat and take those extremely stinky broody poops. We left the door open until the chicks were hatched, then after...

    Aggressive Roo

Sometimes carrying them around in front of the flock will help. If you can catch him and he likes treats this is what i would try. Catch him, carry him around for at least 20 minutes in front of all the other birds, then put him down and give him a nice pile of treats directly. He will...

Chicken Drinking A Lot of Water

I have one little silkie that drinks all the time, she has watery poop too. She is three years old and is very healthy. I have read about it and it may be a digestive issue but if it is she is managing it very well on her own.

yelow / white and black spots on comb and wattles??

How did you chickens make out. Shaking is a really bad sign. They should have more variety in their diet other than sunflowers. Also they need grit to digest, do they have access to the ground, I noticed you said they were in cages?

    Should I just admit defeat?

Could there be a mean hen in the house. We have had a big bunch that one hen was picking on so they refused to go in. We gave the hen to a friend and no further problems.

    losing head feathers (pictures)

That is what I am wondering too, some of my hens have it and some do not. The ones that have it are easily caught by the rooster.

I just found all 26 of my ducks headless!?!?

Are you sure the heads were eaten off or is it a clean cut. My family in Saskatchewan had all of their chickens killed this way, they called the police and it was people who had killed them.

    Skinny chickens

Our hens eat everything, crumble, worms, scraps anything I give them and the breast bone is still there. Took one to the vet and they asked "are they sickly? are they lethargic? how is the appetite?" All indicated healthy birds, so they told me not to worry and keep feeding as is.

Predator took all 5 hens last night! I feel horrible!

This does seem suspect to me. Yes a fox can get over a 4 foot fence but to have many fox together that take the hens without noise or feathers everywhere I do not believe. An owl will only take one bird, so again for all 5 to be gone is questionable. Is it possible there is a hungry neighbor...

    Heating off-grid chicken coop

We use an old camper furnace for our smaller coop. It works great. If need be when we hit -40 Celsius we run a gas generator and have heat lamps on. No moisture is added as the furnace is vented outside, it actually keeps it nice and dry in there. We have little bantams and it has never...
