My chickens seem to be losing weight....they are thin in the keel area and my Wyandotte has a couple of bald spots on her breast. Is she molting? Is this normal? It's been raining a lot; but they are eating well and I am getting about 4 eggs a day from 6 chickens. Any info would be...
Hello! Just piping in, please don't try to relocate the raccoon, it will just die where you put it. It would be lime dumping you in the middle of nowhere without money, without a car or a map! It won't know where to get food, and could encroach on another raccoon's territory. Better off, if...
:lol:Where is the best place to look for eggs? One of my BR's keeps escaping to the front yard, and I think she is laying somewhere in the creek. My ladies are all about 24 weeks and I have had NO activity! Lots of singing, lots of red on their faces; but NO eggs. I can't get into the creek...
:(My girls were all born around the 20th of April, and I have nothing, nada, nothing.
One wyandotte looks ready, 2 BRs look ready, the EE's are just starting to get red and the other wyandotte is just starting to turn red.
HOW MUCH LONGER?????
That is so funny!! My two little girls (6 and 4) know how excited I am for my first egg, so they took two out of the fridge and put them in the coop for me to find! I knew they did it because the eggs were white.......

Congrats! Superb looking egg. We are expecting our first egg(s) any day now. Our flock is at 19 weeks.
Had to have a chuckle at this one.. "any day now". I've been thinking that for 3 or 4 weeks now. Saturday will be 23 weeks for my 4 EE's and 2 BR's.
Me, too! I got...
My daughters classroom hatched fertilized eggs from Whole Foods and they seem fine. I can't figure out what breed they are though....does anyone know? The eggs were large and brown and the chicks are white. One has a bit of black on a wing. Hard to tell because they are only a couple of...
I have a question, do Wyandotte's tend to be more skittish? Mine run when they see anyone, and they are always the ones to get everybody up in arms. My barred rocks are always the first ones to come and check me out and the EE's very curious. I just expected the Wyandottes to be way more mellow?
My dog got in a fight with a racoon last night!!! He was barking and barking and I looked outside, and there was big momma, eating my cats food! My dog would not give him an out, and they had quote a brawl! My dog can barely walk today. He's 15!! I should take my own advice and bring the...
As a former wildlife rehabber, I can tell you it is more humane to kill them then relocate them. It's very cruel to take them away from their family and dump them where they don't know where to get food, and whose territory they are in. Best thing, if you can, is to keep dog, cat, rabbit, and...
I just laughed out loud, and interupted my husbands war show to laugh at the name of your post! Sooooo....I want to eat my geese.... I know what you mean! I had a mean Toulouse break my finger about 10 years ago. I'm still laughing!!!!
The cute little farmer in overalls at the feed store td mr they don't need grit until they are on hard food like cracked corn, etc. They don't need grit for soft food.
She's beautiful! I bought two Ameracaunas that look like that; but reading on this forum, I guess they are fairly rare and mine are EE'S . Hope mine turn out as pretty! They are definitely the friendliest of all of mine!!
Mine are about 3 weeks old (april 21st) and I leave them out during the day, until it cools down in the late afternoon. They love it. The sun keeps them warm enough. I also have a small dog crate in the pen in case they do get cold, they can go in there. They never have. My chicks are doing...
I just got my first coop and the nest boxes have low walls. Does anyone know if I need to make the walls higher? Do they like to be more closed in? There are 4 boxes in a 4 foot long wall.
Thanks for any input!
