    No, I didn't. The Chicken Chick didn't mention it and she did for the Ivermectin Option 3 treatment. The gasoline option isn't systemic like the Ivermectin is which also gave me confidence.

    Being lazy, I also didn't clean the coop etc figuring I'd do it if any of the others got mites. They didn't.

    I used The Chicken Chick's option 4 found here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/what-is-this.1355673/ I was a bit leery of using gasoline for fear of going up in flames but all went well and really easy. I used it for a Silkie with a severe case of those nasty bugs.

    Why external nesting boxes?
