    Should I be worried?

We have 6 Bantam. One other is looking like this although not as bad. We’re in the uk. 4 are fine. I don’t think this black one is laying. They’re 3years old. Update: I did see one having a go at another today so maybe pulling feathers after all.

    Should I be worried?

A couple of chickens have lost feathers on their heads and are spending a lot of time in the nesting in box. One (pictured) also has a lot of watery droppings. I thought at first broody but could this be a molt and broody behaviour or more likely to be illness? Picture of one of my girls.

    Shaky leg, calcium deficiency?

Thanks for your advice. Is it possible to give too much niocin, I’ve given all three Thank you for your advice, we’ll try that. Thought after 2 weeks of nutritional yeast (a fair bit I’ve ran out today) we’d see improvement. Hopefully this will do it. Thanks

    Shaky leg, calcium deficiency?

Hi All, I have 3 runner ducks now (5 weeks old). One has a very shaky leg for last two weeks, will stop if it repositions it’s self but generally starts shaking again. It. doesn’t have an issue walking, running etc other than the shake when standing. I’ve been giving it brewers yeast since I...

    Raising a Single duckling advice

Thanks for your advice. I was worried we’d make it worse by giving him attention and then not being there but we will keep it company and It seems to like the mirror that we’ve put in.

    Raising a Single duckling advice

They’re just in so it will be a few weeks yet. There’s a high chance I know that they’ll no longer be fertile but The batch last week reported as still fertile candling at 7 days. Our runner will have the company of chickens so won’t be completely on its own if they don’t work out.

    Raising a Single duckling advice

Hi, I have another newbie question for you all. So I have one single 2day old runner duckling (sadly the other 3 eggs weren’t viable). It seems strong and generally content, I’ve put in some soft toys in which I’ve seen it snuggling (were hatching more currently so hopefully it will have...

Lethargic duckling, what to expect after hatching

Thank you. I feel like a new anxious parent! It has been chirping and moving since so I think it’s fine. It’s the only one that hatched (from 4 eggs, 2 weren’t fertile and 1 died in the egg a couple of days ago) so no other duckling to compare it to.

Lethargic duckling, what to expect after hatching

Our running duck egg hatched this morning, in a couple of hours from pipping it was out. It’s seemed pretty healthy having a lie down at then would stretch around and chipping, and have another quick rest before moving around. It seems lethargic now 7 hours after hatching. Is that normal?

Panicking. Incubator smells at day 26 runner eggs

Just to update, we decided to get rid of the egg rather than risk the health of the remaining egg that we’ve seen signs of movement from. Fingers crossed for hatching early next week.

Panicking. Incubator smells at day 26 runner eggs

Thanks for the information. Yes I candled it and it was too dark to see anything apart from where the air sack is it looked like there was a feathery outline of something but I guess at this point that’s expected. I’ve heard others describe a rotten egg smell, this smell is like far more like...

Panicking. Incubator smells at day 26 runner eggs

Hi, We have 2 runner ducks eggs that seemed to be developing nicely. I noticed a slight broccoli/canbbage smell from the incubator and put it down to the water/bacteria in the incubator but one of the eggs has a slight cabbage smell too. Is this a sign of early ender? We’re hoping for hatches...
