Comment by 'Pinedale Silkies' in article 'How to make waffles'

One critic I’d mention is the lack of the step “read through a feature length novel worth of the author of the recipe’s life experiences”, but otherwise, perfect article, 10/10

Wow I never would’ve guessed that, of all things, a BUG, would be a BUG!!! A stunningly brave declaration, 🤩🤩🤩 10/10 this made me cry actual tears

Silkie Cockerel with bearded gene, does he have one copy or two?

Thank you. He’s very big too, I haven’t weighed him yet, but his father was over 2kg. (yes we have large fowl silkies here apparently)

Silkie Cockerel with bearded gene, does he have one copy or two?

Ok I would usually agree with that from everything I’ve seen/read, ect, but I have notice a lot of silkie roosters in Australia do seem to have visible wattles so idk?? But thanks for the input! 😊

Silkie Cockerel with bearded gene, does he have one copy or two?

Hi. not exactly sure how to start a thread so I'll just dive right in. I have a silkie cockerel, he's a eb? based buff and he's about 6-7 months old. He's obviously bearded, the question is, is it one copy or two? Iknow it's fairly hard to tell, let alone just from still images, but if anyone...

Incubator got unplugged for 9 hours 😭😭😭

Good idea. They’re pretty regular where I live too, or even the power going off without proper warning and it’s always a stress when incubating. Sounds like you’ve got a good plan, you should be fine. :)

Incubator got unplugged for 9 hours 😭😭😭

Exactly. While you may possibly have a few losses, in my experience, the main majority should be fine.

Incubator got unplugged for 9 hours 😭😭😭

Not necessarily. I recently set 11 eggs under a broody and on day 4 she got up off the nest for a few hours and wouldn’t sit back down so I had to move them under another broody. 9/11 eggs hatched, or 9/10 if you account for one of the eggs mysteriously disappearing. The 10th egg was infertile...

I hatched a chick from eggs from Sprouts!

Wow! I’ve heard of other people hatching chicks from store bought eggs but it’s pretty uncommon. Do you have any other chicks for him to be with/could you buy one or two? Chickens are flock animals and they don’t do well on there own. He looks pretty strong and healthy though. Have you named him?

The Origin Of Russian Orloff , Russian Or Iranian?

All good! 😁 Same, I always enjoy learning something more. It’s one thing I really enjoy about this website, the sheer amount of information, as well as knowledgeable people willing to share it.

The Origin Of Russian Orloff , Russian Or Iranian?

He really is. There’s quite a lot of history there if your interested in that sort of thing, it’s very interesting once you get into it. (Which I’ll refrain from doing here lest I vex the thread owner by going off topic 😅)

The Origin Of Russian Orloff , Russian Or Iranian?

They are, aren’t they! Beautiful things, and surprisingly hardy in cooler areas.

The Origin Of Russian Orloff , Russian Or Iranian?

Another fun fact about Russian Orloffs: Count Orloff, the guy responsible for making the more popular to the point they were named after him, is also accredited to breeding the Orlov Trotter, a rare breed of horse known both for its odd extra rib (has one extra set compared to most if not all...

    Questions about showing chickens

You don’t have to breed chickens to show. As long as you have a chicken, wether you yourself bred it or you bought it off someone, you can show it. Whether you’ll win or not depends on the quality of the pullets you’re getting. I recommend reading the breed/show standard for d’uccles to make...
