    Sick Chicken

Smarty passed away this morning :(...... she is no longer suffering. I have got to become stronger in being able to euthanize these chickens. The part that bothers me most is the suffering. I haven't been able to take life away. Any good reasoning or thoughts on this?

    Sick Chicken

I don't expect her to last the night she seems even sicker tonight. Called vet and they will not treat her. The office offered/referred 2 places but seemed unsure and away in other towns. I have been a chicken owner now for 11 months. There is allot to learn about chickens. Thanks again...

    Sick Chicken

This is smarty the sick chicken. Her butt is a mess. I don't want to cause her too much more stress cleaning it until I can get her feeling better. My video "The sweetest things in life" is Smarty before she was sick. I have her isolated but the other chickens got noisy while photoing her.

    Sick Chicken

Thank you to all for caring and helping with my sick chickens. Being sick is misery for any living thing. I will order this medicine today. And maybe the vet would be willing to help also. I will keep you posted

    Sick Chicken

Thank you very much for this info. Where can I get the antibiotic for them? I am seeing a vet this week for my 15 year old husky but imagine the vet doesn't do chickens.... of course I will inquire. Are chicken medicines available outside of a veterinary clinic?

    Sick Chicken

I have a sick chicken. She makes a rattling breathing lung noice and a half sneezing kind of noise. Her waddle is flapped over and pale. She looks so tired and I find her sleeping allot. She eats well enough but very stationary. Its been going on for quite a while. Just lately I have notice...

Rooster Won't Roost In Coop At Night

Chickengirl555 Place the rooster inside the coop every night and close the door. A coop is to be closed up every night to protect them from predators. Eventually from what I have learned the rooster will get use to the ritual going into the coop at night and beat you to it & head in on its own...

My dang rooster is a meanie to one of my hens. He attacks her if she comes close to the flock.

Might consider putting the rooster in the new coop with his favorite girls neigh I bet he would be obnoxiously loud LOL but if things get worse I will try this Godofpecking

I will let them free range together this weekend while we are out and about building a second small coop for her retrieve and see how it goes. Would be great if they could work things out. Some how I doubt it will happen from what I have seen but will have the housing ready for her. Get her...

No he has bloodied up her comb. Her head is purple from the Blue Kote I sprayed her with. Honestly he seems to be pretty rough. Think he is a young rooster the spurs are not fully developed. These chickens came from a craigslister who needed to down size the flock. Most all hens are...

This could be a possibility but the rooster out weighs Smarty big time. But I could see Smarty thinking she is top. Tonight when I went to put Smarty into her cage in the coop she was standing on the roost like she wanted to be a real chicken lol. Sad really all the other chickens think she...
