oh interesting! I’m planting potatoes this year also but wasn’t brave enough to put my root veggies in the duck bedding. I don’t know enough about the safety of duck bedding yet to know how careful to be.
Okay thanks! It’s starting to smell pretty earthy and breaking down weekly. It’s been sitting since November and will stay in the sun until May 20th when I plant my summer veggies
Hi! I’m new to using duck bedding as compost.
without really thinking about it, in November, I emptied duck bedding (straw, leaves, duck poop) into one of my garden beds that was not filled all the way. There was some dirt and compost in there already but had some extra space.
I’m prepping my...
I’ve seen a lot of people post about sand. Some pros some cons.
There’s one particular area of the duck run that’s just dirt and muddy and when I put straw there it just got worse. So I was going to try sand next.
Anyway..not the point.

Ahhhh look at that little goat.
Well Sarah is my sisters name haha and also...I’m new and not confident in what their sex is lol. The person who gave them to me was pretty sure they were females at 4 weeks. They’re now 5 months old and a few weeks ago someone said one or maybe two of them were...
Hi! I’m Megan. I have ducks not chickens and I’m new to birds. My cousin does homesteading and let me try my hand at three of her ducklings this year.
my five month old Muscovies: Petrie, Duckie and Littlefoot
Nothing crazy. Just a pup and a cat. I have a good size lot in town and wanted a some birds but by health has been poor so I have to keep it simple. I dream of homesteading on a larger scale but my birds and a garden will have to suffice.
Gorgeous!
And haha! What a lazy boy :P
These turn in once it’s dark, but I hear them pecking around for stray bugs inside their house sometimes even in the middle of the night lol. They wake up for a 1am snack haha.
I’d love to see a pic of your drake when he wakes up next! :D
Oh yes, they were clipped weeks ago as they started flying pretty early. (14 weeks?) Haha even still they like to jump on the fire pit and the flutter a few feet off the ground for as long as they can haha it’s pretty cute.
Well then cool! I’m thrilled if I landed all females! Someone told me I had possibly two drakes from a video I had posted two weeks ago. But I was pretty sure males were a lot bigger!
And thank you! I can’t get over how lovely they are in looks and personality
