    Mama Hen W/ babies

That’s normal for hens to do. She’ll probably want to breed again. My hen did the same thing. Now she’s got 4 new chicks she adores & protects fiercely. She has taught them what to do. You don’t have a rooster?

Against the odds hatching thread (with pictures and questions)

What I do is move the eggs to different places in the turner. Not leaving them in the same spot. Isn’t that what the mother does when she’s setting...right? She moves them around underneath her & turns them.

I’m anxious to see your turkey pics. Sounds like Fowl Pox to me. Are the eyes slightly closed? a few of my Brahmas had Fowl Pox last July. Pulled them through but was really scary

    Too many male chicks

Ok. I haven’t been keeping an eye on which female my rooster is favoring. So I’ll have to do that this spring. Isolate & supervise & record who is best for females. Thx!

    Too many male chicks

Hi everyone , been raising chickens for years but new here. Anyway, how can I get more females produced than males? is it the make or female who determines sex? I heard it was temperature during hatching? What’s the secret?

My Hen just hatched her eggs last night :) :) :)

Do you have a small private place in henhouse where chicks can’t get out so mom can take of them? They don’t need food for first couple days but I believe mom might need some water & nutrition. Keep mom & babies away from the flock.
