    Generally speaking your large breed chickens don't fly real well once they are full grown. Stay away from Leghorns they fly real good.

    My Aussie hens are very quiet, but the roosters on the other hand are VERY vocal. They get into crowing contests at 2:30 am with the other roos in the barn, but in different stalls. I can almost set my watch by it. LOL

    Yes they do,but they don't lay like machines,like the white so they won't burn out as fast.

    My 2 & 3 yr olds are molting but the biggest drop in eggs are the pullet Brown Leghorns. One or two eggs from ten pullets. They aren't molting.

    This Florida. I expect a slow down in eggs from mid Dec to mid Feb. Not in September when it started.

    I am also having laying issues. Pale yolks, less eggs ect. I am beginning to suspect IMO that the feed mills have changed the formula of the feeds due to the drought. I have not changed anything in their diet. Although I did start giving the shredded carrots and it did improve the yolk...

    If they have pea combs there is a good chance they will lay green eggs.

    No they don't dig at them. They just shake their heads a lot, but they can become anemic and it can kill young chicks. This is not my picture but one posted in another thread. Catching 100 chickens and putting NuStock on them would be physically impossible for me as I am 63 and disabled.

    I wish that was true for things that are out of your control. I have been fighting stick tight fleas since last march. I was hoping the rains would help that problem because they don't like wet or sunlight. but alas it hasn't. I have tried all the usual remedies eg. Sevin, Permethrin...

    I would be more concerned about pests that wild birds bring. I'm fighting an never ending battle with stick tight fleas and until they are out of the environment the wild birds keep bringing them back.

    Oh a quick question as I am not familiar with this tree. I found a lone Holly oak in the portion of my property that is wetlands. Are the red berries harmful to chickens.
