    Food?

If you birds have not been getting grit, they will need grit to process the corn in their crop. I would try and get the cheapest crumble available and in a 25# bag of possible for the final week instead of grains.

    Most Cost Effective Run Material?

Hey Cris, Not quite what your asking for but... I'm a big fan of electric netting and charger. I use it in my field as it can be configured to available forage. Granted, putting a top netting is impossible, but I think it is great to get maximum use of available space. I've lost a few...

    Heat Reflective Paint for Coop

Have you considered putting the coop on stilts with a 2'-3' air space underneath? Airflow will help cool things down somewhat. Vents high and a few low to remove hot or humid air.

    ISO Malines

They mature faster then BR so those not up to snuff can be harvested sooner vs taking 20-22 weeks and eating more feed. If I remember they are also crosses from several other breeds.

Does it really need to be that big for all situations?

As mentioned a lot depends on where you are located Too many birds in a small space is looking for trouble. Look at the issue we have going on in the world today. Close proximity more issues. Disease, bugs, ammonia build-up,fighting. My wife and I in 1200sq ft house and most days not big...

    Sand for the coop

The coarser the sand the more air can infiltrate it, more aerobic breakdown. Concrete sand would be better in my opinion. You can purchase it from construction/sand and gravel supply.

    Seed startings cells?

From my standpoint timing is as important as cell size. Date of last frost and weather plants can tolerate these frosts. Peppers also take longer to germinate then tomatoes and both do better in larger pots as Rosemary said. If your seed is for this year one seed per cell will do. Older...

    Purebred Cornish - growth rates

I applaud you for wanting to bring HB to a meat pen class at the fair.:clap:clap These type of birds were the best from the local farms before money took over. Same way for the pigs ($200+ piglet) being broughtu in from out of state breeders for county fairs. Off my soap box now.

How can i tie up my chicken?

A problem I can see with a bird on a string is it can be an open invitation to predators when the bird can not escape.
