More Info On Golden Cascade Ducks Needed!

Hi Y'all! I need some help. I tried to order Welsh Harlequin ducklings from Holderreads but they were out of them, so I chose 22 Golden Cascade ducklings. I've raised the Welsh before, but have never even seen Goldens.

Well, this past Tues, mine were shipped & on Thurs, 23 arrived, healthy & happy.

My only problem is that while I knew they were straight run, from all the reading I have done on them said they were supposed to be easily sexed by down color. Males were supposed to be darker brown than the females.

Here's my problem. 22 of them are all approximately the same brown & yellow. The extra one is the only light yellow one!

Either I have 22 males and only 1 female, or I'm missing something!

I have dealt with the Holderreads before and know them to be great, upstanding people, so I know it's totally me that is mixed up!

Any thoughts / opinions are welcome!

That's the problem...there are none any darker than the other...they are all about the same.

Maybe their ducks didn’t come out right somehow coloring wise.

I have some of these ducks, 5 weeks old today! You cant sex them by down. If you breed a drake gc with another breed of duck you can sex the offspring by down color.

Hi AK Mommaf8, I got my GC 's on April 9th and couldn't see a difference either. I can tell now which are which by size. For being a medium size breed they have grown as big as my Saxony and Khaki Campbells. Mike

I picked mine up this week. They totally had WH duckies you could have had! I ordered 4 silver appleyards and 18 assorted and I got almost all WH in my assortment. Bummer because I wanted more meaties!

I feel SO much better! Now I can stop worrying & simply enjoy the little goofballs!
