I should note that they will be locked up in a predator proof coop nightly.

    Goal is free range

So I have a flock of 14 Khaki Campbell ducks that are 12 weeks old. My goal is to have them free range and I'm admittedly new to raising fowl. Are there steps I need to take before just opening the gate and letting them roam? Best practices or tips? Thanks in advance.

    Rubbing Behind Eyes While Swimming

Good afternoon, So our flock of 16 Khaki Campbells are growing quickly! They are 4 weeks old now and its been fun watching them grow. My question is with regard to them rubbing behind their eyes with their feet while swimming. I've read many posts about them rubbing their oil glands with...

    Splay leg

So the hobble came off, a band (zip tie) was added to the leg of the runt and they both joined the rest of the flock for their first swim today. I have a feeling I won’t be able to tell the runt from the rest so I put the band on it so I can track it as it grows.

    Splay leg

Thank you for the suggestions. I’ve been amazed at both the growth of the runt and the ability of the splay leg to get around the brooder flawlessly. (One it got the hang of it) I just took this photo of the two side by side. Splay leg is normal size compared to the rest of them. Also adding...

    Splay leg

So my daughter is raising khaki Campbell ducklings for her FFA class. We received 16 ducklings a week ago. One emerged as a ‘runt’ this week and a second developed what I believe is splay leg. We segregated the two, adding extra B Complex to their water. I used the vet tape treatment on splay...

    Treating weak runt duckling

@Jpat how did the runt turn out? I only ask because I’m dealing with the same thing right now. Just got 16 khakis on Wednesday. One quickly emerged as the runt. Wasn’t eating or drinking and pushed to the corner by the rest. Very proud of my 15 yr old daughter for separating it from the rest...
