I just woke up this morning to find we had a blackout in the night and that the incubator was down to 20deg c when I’m came in again in the morning the eggs were on day 6. I touched the eggs and they are all stone cold 😫 is there any chance they will survive or will they all be dead?
Nah not gasping for air, i have been massaging it’s crop every time I check on it. Seems not much better today top is still very full. But it doesn’t seem distressed or as sick looking today.
Yeah I gave it water all day and no food and didn’t empty. The crop is firm but not hard can push on it a little. No better this morning either.
It must have eaten the bedding 😩
Why are quail babies so stupid, I don’t want to put this one down too.
Anyone have any advice? This is one of the guys from the batch I just hatched!

Anyone have any advice? I still have one with a very swollen crop and I don’t know what to do! I don’t want it to die!!! 😭
I have isolated it from the others, put it ok paper towel and taken food away for now it just has water and a heater at the moment. I don’t know what else to do.
Update...
I had to put it down sadly it started bleeding more and staggering around.
But I have a second one with a very large crop too.
I’m using wood shavings which I’m wondering if it’s swallowed one. I’m switching to paper towel I think.
I’m feeding them a game bird started...
I have a 3-4 day old quail chick that has a massively swollen crop with a rather large split/laceration at the edge of its crop. I came out this morning and this was how it was. Can a swollen crop split a chicks skin?
It looks rather miserable, what should I do? Can a large cut mend or is it...
It was over 70% most of the time but it accidentally went dry in the middle of hatching at one stage and got down to 40% when I was filling up the trays. It’s a new incubator so getting use to it. Could it going dry have done that?
Turned the incubator off today, had a few eggs that didn’t hatch. My hatch was 28 in total but sadly 1 had died it looks like it’s tummy wasn’t closed up properly or something not sure. It had a shiny patch if wet looking skin on its tummy.
They are under a chick plate and there is 2 of them. I’ve only noticed 2 of them maybe 1 per chick?
I’m going to google what cecal poop is! Thanks for that.
My 1 week old chick has all of a sudden started pooping this odd goopy dark caramel like poop. They seem healthy at them moment but not sure if I should be doing something preventative. Any advice would be great!
Wow 100% that’s amazing! My best so far was 97%.
UPDATE: quail have started hatching last night had first one come out of its egg and then woke up this morning and there were 7 now it’s afternoon and I have 15!! 16 more to go 🤞🏽
