I have attempted 2 duck hatches in the incubator and both times i have ended up with a 30% hen to 60% drake hatch rate. Is there any way to increase the percentage of hens? Temp, humidity etc.
I've had free range inside of a 4ft chain link fence around .75 acres for going on 3 years. I have had 2 fox instances and both times dispatched the fox. My run ins with the foxes are usually when the weather starts turning cold and their usual prey is not moving as much. Both times the fox was...
I do to know where to post this question but I cracked one.of my eggs this morning and this is what came out. Any help on the subject or a forum better suited for this question would be appreciated
These are eggs from my ducks.
These are eggs from my ducks. I have 2 digital thermometer/hygrometer tat I calibrated. I started with 100 degrees and 55-65% humidity. At lockdown I dropped the temp to 98degrees and 70-75% humidity
I have a thermometer/hygrometer that the probe will fit through the vent hole in the lid. 10 of the eggs did great until after the first one hatched and rolled the other ones around. Most of the remaining 10 appeared to have a detached air cell. It looked like an air cell in both ends of the egg
I need advice from any of you with experience with incubating duck eggs. What temps and humidity work best. My incubator has a vertical turner but I remove it for lockdown and lay the eggs horizontal and my first attempt had horrible results. Day 30 and 2 have hatched, 5 quit early on, 2 pipped...
My incubator has a turner that holds the eggs upright. My question is will it be ok to lay the eggs down for lockdown? I do not want the chicks to injure themselves by stumbling on the turner.
Update on the KC. I could not find any calcium gluconate but I spoke with a guy that has had ducks for years and told me to use warm water in a turkey baster to basically give her an enema. So per his instructions I would inject a little water at the time allowing it to flush out little by...
My 6 month old KC duck was walking funny so I checked her out and she was egg bound. I tried gently messaging the egg out but it felt soft on one end. I don't know what to do. I sanitized my hands and attempted to feel the egg but I could not feel it other than through tissue. Any advice. I...
I have 4 kakhi Campbell ducks, 2 drakes and 2 hens. They are about 6 months old and one of them has layed an egg about a week ago but nothing since. They are not molting and are healthy and happy. Just no eggs other than the one. Any ideas?
