    Special needs laying hens

I posted these girls before but not much interest. Trying again. Freeda is a red sexlink, lays daily, she's mostly blind, but can see a little. She requires a heat source with this cold weather. Monica is an amberlink, she's a normal chicken, loves people and will follow you anywhere. She's the...

    trio of BLRW/Americauna cross hens

Just turned a year old, not laying regularly due to winter. These are decent sized hens, would be good for dual purpose breeding. Pick up in Becket MA, or will deliver locally for added fee.

I'm considering relocating, and trying to find a place that will allow me to have my girls. I found this website but I'd like to have the info verified by people who know the areas. If you can confirm ot correct any of it I'd appreciate it...

    Solar water heating.

Where you're located and the power consumption by the heater will determine your cost. Wind may be a better alternative.

    Feed store chicks

TSC here is really good about getting the chicks you want. even if they're cornish x chicks. Definitely make sure to check their butts before they even get in the box.

How come everyone else has fluffy chicks and mine are ugly? :)

Could also be low humidity causing the membranes to stick.

    Feed store chicks

My TSC usually has between 4 and 6 stocked bins. One for ducks(which they usually go to clearance because no one wants 24 ducks @ $6 each), a bin of red sexlinks, a couple bins that change every week, simetimes sexed BJG's, sometimes amberlinks, white leghorns or brahmas, a banty bin mostly...

Babies attacked by other babies! Help!!

You can also give them things to chase, crickets are a big favorite, just be sure to give them chick grit.

    Training

Chicken camps typically used white leghorns. Breed doesn't really matter though.

    Newest coop in progress *Pics*

Some of the gaps aren't too bad, I'm sure if I just paint it they'll be pretty well sealed but there are a couple I need to cover. I got the door mostly done, and one nest box door done. I'll try to get more pics up on Wednesday.

Roof is up, it was not easy with the slope of the roof. The sheets of metal buckled a little as I was going along so I'm going to fill the spaces with tar caulk. Also got the floor cover in, not the vinyl sheeting I wanted but beggars mustn't be choosers. Inside, I need to figure...

Just thought I'd share. The foot print is 8x8, the tallest wall is 5' 5", I am 5' 0" so it's tall enough for me to stand comfortably. The shortest wall is a hair above 36". This will be the turkey house for the next month until they're sent to freezer camp, then the girls will move in. It will...
