Thanks, I added my info. I'm just south of San Francisco, about 5 miles from the coast. It doesn't get below 30 degrees more than once or twice per year, if that. I'll check the hardware cloth but it's VERY secure everywhere that matters. Can't hurt to double-check though, as we do have raccoons...

We did everything we feel like we could have, but we couldn’t save her. Just as it was clear she was dying I put my head down on her and she died. Heartbreaking to say the least. I’ll drive her to UC Davis on Monday for a necropsy and report back.
