    Bully hen plucking the others?

I'm dealing with a bully RIR who I'd plucking and breaking feathers. I've ordered pinless peepers to try, and after we come back from vacation next week I may try isolation. Any suggestion as to what nutritional deficiency it may be? She is relentless in chasing and plucking my other 8 hens...

    Bully hen

Ours are free ranging half of the day and in a chicken tractor the other times unless it’s night time and then they’re in their coop. They have good access to food As I move their chicken tractor every day and provide grower feed for them at the same time. She picks out others but just not as...

    Bully hen

I have nine chickens that are 11 weeks old and a mix of many different breeds. My Rhode Island red has definitely stood out as the most aggressive which I had anticipated but she’s picking on my midnight Maran and plucking all her feathers near her tail. The Maran Had some white feathers at the...

3 week olive egger. Sex? Type of cross?

I have a Welsummer pullet that looks a lot like your OE, so maybe she has some in her. Mine likes to stand up tall but she has the salmon chest of a pullet coming in. We have an OE also but no clue her mix. Last pic is our Olive Egger.

4 week old Welsummer Pullet or Roo???

This thread is soo helpful! We picked out one Welsummer for our mixed flock and she (hopefully) is 4 weeks old. I tried to get a picture of her chest color. Would you say it’s more salmon colored? She was an older chick when we got her. She also has a long tail feathers compared to our other breeds.

    First time flock

That makes a lot of sense. I am finding that as they get older and bigger they are being a bit messier with their food.

    First time flock

When we got our chicks it was recommended to us that we try the organic because they had less issue with pasty butt, which we have had no issue with. It was just a recommendation. I mixed the medicated into the organic a week ago to start transitioning them over. I come from a horse background...

    First time flock

Mary, Thank you so much! You are an incredible wealth of information. I felt like they were pulleys but this is my first time raising my own. I figured I’d leave predicting aside and just wait for them to display signs. Mine are still kept in the brooder and haven’t been out in the run yet so it...

    First time flock

We are raising our first flock. They are between 3 and 4 weeks old. I have a few questions. A friend who raises chickens thinks 3 of mine are roosters, they are almost 4 week old Americanas and a Welsummer. She said I can sex them by their wing feathers, but I thought they were too old for that...
