Would anyone mind sharing photos of their setup? We have a broody Cochin bantam that we are trying to break and I’m contemplating letting her hatch some eggs next spring if she keeps at this. Would love to see how you have them separated or what setup you use for the hen and chicks.
Also, I know not the same breed but she was the same age as our Barred Rock (shown in one of the photos above) - which turned out to be a roo. Not 💯 positive but my guess on yours would be roo.
We are planning to use sand in the coop for ease of cleaning but I’m concerned that the girls will get bored in the run with just sand. Thoughts? Add a raised bed with something else for variety? Small composting pile/bin? We are planning to do at least one grazing box. We need something...
Purchased straight run from TSC all we know for sure is she is a bantam. Thinking she may be a Dutch bantam based on some research and other suggestions we have received. About 6.5 weeks - wondering if it’s a pullet or cockerel? Also, other suggestions on breed welcome.
Thanks!
Haha thanks! We have thought cockerel from very early on because he is a bit of a bully to the other three chicks. We already have a home lined up for him if we need it, in the rare event we don’t, that would be fine too 👍🏻!
We are going through the exact same thing. We have a barred rock who is almost six weeks and people have guessed cockerel for him, but hard to know until the comb develops further. They said cockerel based on barring.
