it definitely could be especially since a vet hasn’t diagnosed her in person. I’m still at a loss of how to help since we’ve flushed it twice with saline :(
My problem is I cant See any puss so I’m unsure if that’s why her eye is closing but I’m just assuming. She has no discharge or anything anymore either. She also doesn’t smell abnormal. So do you think this is something that should run it’s course? It’s been 2 months of the eye looking like this...
So my barred rock had what a vet thought was coryzea (this vet is family and lives out of state, he diagnosed and help treat via photos and videos). She was on doxycycline which took the abscess away but her eye was still closing a lot. She then went on veraflox (stronger antibiotic), with no...
I'm in a few chicken keeper facebook groups where some people had instances of the mulch lodging in their chicken's foot and causing bumble foot. I'm glad to hear it's been a non-issue for you! I feel like anything can cause an issue though. I was originally thinking on wood chips!
Here is our run 6 months ago back when the gals had grass in it. Any advice on roofing material so it’s not too heavy? We don’t have a support beam in the middle so may need to add one. Thanks for all of the advice
Hi everyone, new (ish) to chickens since April! :)
I have a covered but open material roof on my run. There is currently only dirt on the bottom, and with a week of rain it has obviously turned into a mud pit. The temperatures are dropping into the mid 30s, and somebody had said that the mud...
I’ve read that fowl pox is uncommon on Long Island but I’m concerned about these black lesions. My blsck Australorp has some white puss in addition to black lesions on her face and comb which is consistent with fowl pox. My barred rock has quite a few black lesions on her comb As well, and my...
Hi everyone,
I gave my 7 week old chicks their first dried mealworms treats 2 days ago. They have been having grit since 5 weeks because i was concerned about them digesting grass. Is it okay to give mealworms sparingly at this age? I’m reading mixed things about treats. Thanks
Hi everyone, 7 week old Rosie here was supposed to be a Buff Orpington but totally is not. She is much lighter than my New Hampshire red, and is extremely outgoing and friendly. Is she a red star (golden comet), or something else? She’s front left in the group photo. Thanks!!
Thanks for finding the pic, mine definitely does not look like this. Dang! She's still loved the same but I was hoping for a mixed flock and now out of 6 sexed birds I have 1 possible rooster and 2 reds :(
Thank you so much for the pics, mine is much darker than that. Wow, I'm so shocked I was not expecting a different breed to come out of this post! LOL. I love her just the same but I'm sad my flock is not as mixed now with 2 reds.
