Thanks so much!
I’ll check her crop in the morning, it was a little puddle of clear fluid. No bad smells from her beak when pressed. I’ll give that a read now thank you.
We brought her in last night and She’s been back out with the others today, is continuing to eat and drink although stands...
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Hybrid warren, approx 2.5years old. Feels normal weight (will weigh shortly)
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Drooped tail, lethargic, not laying, just wants to stand and sleep, super...
Ouch poor thing it does look sore!! I’ve no experience of bumblefoot, so cant really comment on that I’m afraid!! Are the lumps squishy or hard? I think if it was me I’d probably try and Epsom salt water soak the foot to try and ease the swelling and then apply an ointment! Sorry can’t be of...
Oh no :( and things were seemingly looking promising, I’ve just come across this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/no-energy-and-bright-green-poop.625340/page-2 it’s old, however shows some pictures so if it’s similar there might be other things to try? Keep us updated and fingers...
If he seems happier out there then you have, the laying down and tiredness I would say is likely just to be from the events of the day and his leg. He is acting just as our girl was when she had a run in with a cat/fox in the garden, she came in the house for a check up and snooze then went back...
If he hasn’t got any puncture wounds I’d say it’s unlikely to be an infection, he may of sprained his leg whilst running away. You’re doing the right thing encouraging him to drink, keeping him somewhere safe, dark and quiet too will likely help with the stress. May sound crazy but soothe him...
I think DE has mixed reviews for worming, we used Flubenvet here in the U.K., you can buy it already mixed in a layers feed, or as a powder to dose yourself. There are a number of really good de worming posts on this forum, so give it a good search!
I’ve recently had a similar issue with our...
We had frost this morning just to add to it!! I’ll continue on my quest to rule things I can control out 😄 they seem very happy clicking around and acting normally so shall just see! wormer has just arrived so will start that tomorrow. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond!
I don’t think they’ve ever been wormed,
forgot to say, on checking out chicken poop pics with worms in them it was definitely Round worms in the poop, looked like white spaghetti!
Thanks for your response, yes we got at point of lay and we’re laying until suddenly stopping. When we initially got them we kept them in their run for a week to learn home and we’re getting eggs routinely. We are using same feed as they were having, purchased alongside them. I’ll put some grit...
Hi Patchworkjo!
Lovely to meet a fellow local! I’m in Bramcote so very close to your old home!
That’s an amazing mix of girls you’ve got 😄 I think once I’ve got a better understanding and am more settled into chicken ownership I’d love to grow our clan! You’re so right they’re amazing but...
Hi CCUK!
Nice to meet another relatively close by chicken keeper!! To be honest I’m not entirely sure, I think they’re just commercial browns of varying shades! What about you?
