Sell me on a breed of chicken in as few words as possible.

Golden Comets are the sweetest, heartiest and low maintenance.

Need advice with 8 month old comet

I don't kno how she would have gotten access to them. She doesn't free range. She's also given grit . I sent off a stool sample with the results coming back in the morning. She lives with 2 other hens that are twice her size. She has always been small.

Need advice with 8 month old comet

My girl came to me at nine weeks and have been in a controlled environment. Laying eggs daily up until 4 days ago when she started acting semi lethargic. Fast forward this morning she couldn't get down the ladder from the coop so I took her into work and x-rayed her. Finding nickel size rocks in...

    Oh my goodness the size

Yes my Maran. She's very vocal and very proud of herself.

    Oh my goodness the size

Maybe the size has to do with the older the chicken gets. Not sure really. What in the world do you do with that many eggs ☺️

I've never seen such a big egg come out of my chickens. Kind of looks like an ostrich egg ☺️

    The best time

When is the best time of day to collect the eggs? I have 3 young hen's and apparently only one is laying very early in the morning before I let them out in the run. I usually collect at noon when I clean the coop when I'm working but on my days off I've been taking it early. Any suggestions? I...

    When?

I have 3 23 week old hens. 1 Maran and 2 Golden Comets. The smallest one a Comet started to lay a week ago but the other two nothing yet. I have patience and they are spoiled rotten but is this normal?

    Added a cover

Do have a family of hawks that took up residence. That's what the netting is for. Also have 2 very protective dogs and the coop is very close to the house for that exact reason.

    Added a cover

The peak in the middle is high but have netting across the top before the cover was put on. BTW They are locked up at night.

    Added a cover

Don't think I can drop it lower that's how it came. I'll wait and see how well it holds up. I have anchored the kennel itself to the ground so the whole thing won't be a parachute when heavy winds arrive. Do have predator apron all around and pad lock on the kennel door.

    Added a cover

I've had my girls four months and do have netting over the top but thought with the rain and cooler weather around the corner felt this would be the best route to take. Now to anchor everything down.

Where Should I Hang Food & Water?

I have food container and water container both hanging in the coop. I also have a metal water bowl ( previously from a dog crate) attached to the outside run.
