HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

I started the topical Clotrimazole cream yesterday and will give it a few days and see how she is. I also figure as much preening as she does being a duck, that she has to be ingesting some of it and I hope that's not a bad thing....... Much appreciated for everyone's advice & suggestions.

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Hi Miss Lydia, I can purchase Lamisil creams OTC but everythnig else I've researched shows a prescription is required for the oral meds. I've been googling, searching active ingredients, have checked multiple sites.

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Anyone have any ideas on where I can order this medication without a local vet who is willing to treat ducks? That part is beyond frustrating for me!

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Before it changed over to this horrible crusty layer, she definitely had a weird white skin layer all around her vent almost on top of the skin layer, this summer. She didn't necessarily have white or yellow 'ooze' or chunky bits but she smells horrible. I don't see any blood in her stool...

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Because I have no vet to provide a prescription, do you have an alternative suggestion that won't need one that is as effective as the Silvadene? Even from Chewy I have to input a vet and duck vets just aren't a thing where I am unfortunately.

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Thank you. (This is a duck so I appreciate any and all info & your expertise.) She moves around regularly and until yesterday when I brought her where it was warmer and realized she was getting worse, she is not confined to a specific area except at night when they are in their house. She is...

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Thanks for the responses so far. She is still spiffy for what its worth. Got the best pics we could after her bath. No matter what I do I can't get down to the bare skin. She's picked her feathers off the belly area below the vent. These are after the bath and a gentle dab with paper towels to...

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Yes of course she does. She gets 24/7 access to a quality layer crumble (same brand for 3+ years) as well as Mazuri floating duck food, fresh peas twice a day and a handful of dried mealworms as a supplement. Occassionallly romaine lettuce while the ground is frozen and they can't forage.

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Yes I did start ACV in her drinking water 3 days ago. I've also added cayenne pepper to help with parasites, in the past have tried oregano in food/water. She gets peas every day along with two types of food (free range choice) and mealworms.

HELP! Duck Black Vent, Painful, Runny Feces, Missing Feathers

Seeking help as there are NO vets in my area willing to help with ducks. 4 Year Old layer duck has had digestive issues had fly strike in Summer that seemed to clear but now super sloppy feces and difficulty pooping since then. Tried lots of treatments, thought she was 'OK'. We've had SUPER...

    8 Week Old Ducklings

Looking for experienced duck owners advice please. My duckling are 8 weeks old and nicely feathered out. We are about to transition them from our mud room (non insulated so has been a great temperature transition location!) to their predator proof house. We live in the northeast so our weather...

    Duckling Not Thriving - HELP!

If it were bacterial infection, do you know of a treatment? She's been in a very controlled environment so I highly doubt toxic ingestion. She's worse today and I will continue the vitamins but if there is something I'm missing if it were bacterial. Thanks so much for your help thus far - I...

    Duckling Not Thriving - HELP!

Up until two days ago she ate at will and often chose to do so when the others were resting. They were in the smaller brooder (55gal tote). She's gotten worse since moving to the larger 5' kiddie pool. If I see she's stuck I help her several times a day and hold her up while she eats and drinks...

    Duckling Not Thriving - HELP!

Last night we started Complex B pills that I grind to a powder (and mash with a bit of food and vitamin water to mix in with Vit. E gel.). They are 1.5mg each so I planned on giving two a day? Vitamin E tabs are 180 mg each so I gave her two this morning to give a bigger boost. They've been...

    Duckling Not Thriving - HELP!

Yes she's very alert but not coordinated AT ALL. Gets exhausted from trying to paddle herself upright and then if I put her upright she falls over to the other side. It's SO SAD. The neck starting to go off to one side concerns me today. If I help her eat and drink by steadying her so she...
