So my head rooster does this head shake and twist every so often. I've checked for mites/ lice but cant seem to find anything. Any thoughts on what is going on? tia.
Good morning all. I was hoping to get some help fifuring out what breed 2 of my girls are. They came from Hoover Hatchery. It was their brown egg layer mix package. I did try looking through their site but after a while I start thinking every pic looks like mine, lol. So here they are. Thanks in...
We have 9 in total. The one cockeral we had initially beleived was a barred rock. The pattern was consistent with a pullet . Then at about 3 weeks old( they're 5 weeks now) a definitive red comb staryed sprouting quickly. We were not totally convinced " she" was a he yet though because male...
They are gorgeous birds!I wish I could help but I'm too new to be able to tell the difference. We just found out one of our "girls" was a cockrel. Although we are actually happy about it as we decided we would like to have one. Best of luck
So, everything I've read on identifying barred rock chicks say the pullets have more black as a think "she" does and "she" has some light blackwas on her legs, top of foot. But.. Look at the size of the comb and waddles coming in! Not to mention how red they are. My other 8 chicks are different...
I am planning on the apron definitely. The run is 18' by 10'.the coop sits 2.5' off the ground and has 6'×6' floor space. Its 6' on the high end down to 5' on the short side.
Here's an updated pic of my coop and run. I still need to add the roof ( after I run the hardware cloth) and the window to the side 9f coop not showing. I'll have the run fenced today so we can at least bring out the chicks ( 4weeks) for some daily field trips to get used to being outside!
I think a ramp would be easier for them than stairs. Im new to this myself so I wouldn't put too much weight in my opinion. That being said its sounds like a great set up to me.😊
