Broody less than 4 weeks after being..... broody

I'd say you should try to give her a week's rest, if you can, so she gets some exercise and feeds up a bit. The stress on her body after a second run could make her pretty weak and even more likely to abandon the next lot of chicks.

    Pekin Banty Sexing!

It might be the fact that the wattles are in shadow. They did give me the run-around as well (you can see they're panting in the close-ups). In person, observing them at rest, they appear almost yellow-y, with a little bit of pink.

    Pekin Banty Sexing!

Two of the last four are actually the oldest ones (the black and the grey ones)!

    Pekin Banty Sexing!

No way! Even the four in the first two pictures? Would be just my luck to hatch out eight cockerels. I haved added close-ups of the ones I am hoping are hens...

    Pekin Banty Sexing!

Hello, I have here eight little Pekins, of which I'm fairly certain four are hens and four are cocks. I have some people interested in having a few of them, but obviously don't want to sell them 'hens' that turn out to be boys! Any second opinions would be much appreciated. The oldest three were...

    Giant Silkie Project.

Wow, Poof is a chunky girl! I think it's a great project. The bigger and poofier, the better. :)

    Giant Silkie Project.

What's the next step once the Big Chick is grown? Cross him back to a Silkie? And he is adorable, by the way.

Hen died last night. Unknown cause of death. Any ideas?

Looks like she got stuck under the doors somehow and may have died from the stress or from breaking a bone while struggling. Alternatively a small predator may have got in and tried to drag her out(?)- though one would expect to see some blood or sign of a forced entry if that were the case...

1yr old B.O hen, stopped everything. please reply.

Ha ha, well I don't blame you. We have a nice way of life here, especially in the countryside. Though I myself am probably going to defect to Portugal some time in the near future, so you're welcome to take my spot in the UK when I leave.

1yr old B.O hen, stopped everything. please reply.

I am indeed British. :) I had a bantam hen a couple of weeks ago behaving similarly to what you describe. She stopped eating and drinking on her own and was having diarrhea. I gave her water several times a day with a pipette and mashed pellets up with yoghurt and put them in her beak until she...

Have you wormed her? Could be a large internal parasite load. Sometimes you can see worms in the poo.

My bantams have a geodesic dome with a 'fortress' connected by a tunnel. They come out into the garden as well. I also have a broodyhouse set up there on the right. We built some perches in the dome which they love to fly up to and planted bamboo inside (protected by mesh til it gets bigger)...
