My brahma now qualifies as the worst mother ever by far.
Not only was she a poor sitter AND a poor mother shes now abandoned her chicks to go broody again.
This started 48 hours ago when i noticed a broken egg in her seperate broody coop, she seemed distant, paying no attention to her chicks and actually treading on them to try and get into the main coop. I took her out as she was serving no purpose and as soon as she was with the main flock she went and sat on eggs in the nesting box.
Now ive got half a dozen barb duccles plaintively cheeping for a mother that doesnt care and SEVERE abandonment issues! Luckily the weather is really warm in the uk atm and they are virtually fully fledged, ive now put the incy hatchers in with them, hopefully they can teach them some independance.
This brahma has now put the hatchaholics on here to shame.
Im assuming shes ok to go broody again, her weight and condition are good and im assuming the restarted egg laying is a good sign?
