    Bubbly eye

I have a 19 week old pullet that has a bubbly eye. I noticed she had dirt around here eye yesterday so I flushed the eye out. I figured she’d be back to normal today as it happened pretty early yesterday but it’s still bubbly. She doesn’t have any other symptoms. It’s not swollen there’s no nose...

Double silver laced barnevelder 6 weeks

They’re definitely male if that’s what you mean. They’re slightly smaller than the other young birds I have. Always running up to me for pets and I love their feathers but I’m trying to rehome them without luck. I wish I could keep them no one seems to want them and it would be such a shame for...

    Rehoming roosters Elk Grove CA

I have three 14 week old roosters I am looking to rehome. There are two 3/4 size double silver laced barnevelders and one standard size French black copper marans. They have been organically fed their entire lives and are in great health. They are friendly and fairly easy to catch for health...

Ya I’m keeping them all until they crow just to be sure even the FBC marans I have which is pretty obviously a cockerel too😔

Double silver laced barnevelder 6 weeks

That’s so weird! I always assumed with non-sexing breeds the feathers would all be the same either staggered or the same length no matter gender but to have it be completely random either way is like something out of the twilight zone😂 very sad though my daughter is going to be crushed. We...

Whether it was “accurate” or not doesn’t opposite feather sprout pattern indicate one of each? I’ve never read that 2 males or females of a same breed from a same place could have opposite sprout patterns and still be the same sex.

Really??? Even though they had opposite wing feather types at a day old?

DO NOT BUY FROM DARE2DREAM FARMS!!!

So sorry for your loss. I had a chicken die unexpectedly over night that I found first thing the next morning (liver malady) which was just awful but to have a whole flock die because of irresponsible breeding is just heartbreaking. So so sorry you’re going through this and shame shame shame on...

    Alchemist farm line moss egger

UPDATE:: The chicks are now just over 8 weeks old. The white one still has no comb and the grey still about the same as it always was with no color changes either. The grey one is starting to get copperish markings on her/is hackle exactly like my FBC marans chick that the community is pretty...

Double silver laced barnevelder 6 weeks

UPDATE:: The chicks are now just over 8 weeks. These 2 are really stumping me. The first 2 pictures are of the chick I thought was male but you guys said is probably the female at 6 weeks and the last picture is the one I thought was female that someone pointed out was probably the male because...

    Alchemist farm line moss egger

The darker one is 100% a moss egger. I hatched these chicks and both the grey and white one in the pictures came from dark green mossy eggs.

    Alchemist farm line moss egger

Yes they look like they have marans in them along with ameraucana. Their legs are feathered and their general build (especially the white) looks a lot like my fbc marans chick. On the website it also said they have a 50/50 chance of chocolateish brown eggs or a nice green so I’d bet that’s the...

    Alchemist farm line moss egger

I got 2 moss eggers from alchemist farm. Francesca said stance is usually how to tell them apart but that’s not really helping me. They are both 6 weeks old. The white one is bigger but s/he hatched a day earlier than the grey and they both had “female” wing feathers at a day old. Not sure if...

Double silver laced barnevelder 6 weeks

I have 2 dsl barnevelder chicks at 6 weeks old now. They were bred to be 3/4 size. I checked their wings at a day old and they were opposites so I’m hoping I have a pair. They are both very sweet but the smaller one that had the “male” feather quills does seem a bit jumpy and take chargey. The...

4 week old black copper marans

UPDATE:: My chicks are now 6 weeks old. Here’s how my bcm is looking. Comb is still a pale pink fleshy color but has gotten slightly bigger. S/he’s still about tied for size with my white moss egger chick but legs are thicker.
